I live in garner and have a canoe. Lately on the weekends I've been driving out to Jordan Lake to go canoing (there is a section cut off from the rest of the lake that larger boats can't launch from, don't have to deal with wakes/etc). That's a long drive though
Where are some other places in the area to go canoing/boating, preferably southeast of Raleigh?
If anyone has any other boating questions, feel free contribute. I'm sure there are a few TWWers who own some sort of watercraft.

There are a couple of put-ins on the Haw River. The best canoe spot would be to take 64 west, turn left as soon as you cross the river, go a mile or two down the road and turn left onto a dirt road. I think there is a sign on the dirt road that says there is a canoe put-in at the end, but I'm not 100% on that.
If you make it to the Robeson County Boat Ramp you have gone too far although you could just as easily drop it in the water there. 3/20/2008 11:08:26 PM |
