i dont think the hotdog carts are good at all...the best deal i found was 5 bucks for 2 skinny hotdogs, a can of soda(12oz) and a small bag of chips??

you might could swing $10 for one person for lunch at the rockford, they have good sandwiches
raleigh times perhaps
but I still think mojoes or armadillo is your best bet

whats the name of that southern food place down there? There is a special table and parking spot for the owner, who's some old redneck looking dude. I think its right around where Rum Runners is...

place is dank

Here are some good downtown restaurants...

Some of them are out of my price range, though

the pit is good, but not as good as mitchell's was

and the price difference doesn't justify not going to cooper's instead

i walked around for a while...saw a lot of places with "cafe" in the name(automatic no no for me)...saw a martin street pizza which looked kinda good...ended up just going with coopers...i wont be going back that place was awful

didnt google the address to armadillo or mojoes i need to map out some places first...hard to pick when so many places look all fancy and shit though

okay, you're right

it's mediocre at best

i always hated don murray's and it's on that level

i don't know what happened, because mitchell's was awesome

cooper's is the hotness though

bbq sandwich, fries, tea, and skins for 5.25

^ wtf how did you not like cooper's

the bbq sandwich was too small with not a lot of meat...the fries were soggy grease cookout type fries...the hushpuppies were the worst hushpuppies ever...the sandwich was good, the fries were 4/10, the hushpuppies were 1/10

[Edited on June 25, 2008 at 1:58 PM. Reason : ^mine was 5.25 too but i didnt get a tea, got a water, and got hushpuppies instead i guess]

the special isn't supposed to come with hushpuppies

their hushpuppies are mediocre and the fries are hit or miss, usually miss

but the skins, tea, and sandwich are awesome, especially with a little extra sauce thrown on

yesterday they were semi-closed because some idiot ripped out their gas line, but the dude poked his head out and said they only had sandwiches and skins, which was exactly what i wanted

so i had a badass convo with two cooks and the lady who smokes at the register

Mecca Restaurant and Roast Grill are pieces of Raleigh history, so make sure you try them. Good, inexpensive food, too.

Tir Na Nog is great. I love the bangers & mash. Try to go when they have a pipe & drum band.
