Obama does look whiny, but he's right.

Also, CNN, MSNBC, and the rest did not start raping Bush's face until really late in the game. They had the awesome election/hanging chads story, which was great for them, but I'm sure many were bitter about the outcome. Then 9/11 happened, and Bush got a free pass for years.

Obama is not right. He just doesn't agree with Fox's slant on the news. He continually gives them credibility whenever he comes out like this.

Obama thinks that everyone should like him and when they dont, hit hurts his feelings. and his butt. its very tiring. grow a thicker skin for fuck's sake.

you are right about 9/11. it did spare Bush about 4 years of any criticism...but the last 2 years of his Presidency were brutal...probably unlike anything we have ever seen. undoubtedly, more conservative reporters are giving Obama the same treatment they saw the liberal ones give Bush. it will be like this the rest of our lives. every future President better get used to ignoring it.

lets look at the entire quote, which comprises less that 2% of the interview

Quote :
"
ROLLING STONE: What do you think of Fox News? Do you think it's a good institution for America and for democracy?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: [Laughs] Look, as president, I swore to uphold the Constitution, and part of that Constitution is a free press. We've got a tradition in this country of a press that oftentimes is opinionated. The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints. I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It's a point of view that I disagree with. It's a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world. But as an economic enterprise, it's been wildly successful. And I suspect that if you ask Mr. Murdoch what his number-one concern is, it's that Fox is very successful.
"

i don't see anything weak or whiny here. R.S. asked a question, he answered it. Everything he said is true.

now on the other hand, you have

Quote :
"
DaBird :

Obama looks weaker and whinier each time he complains about Fox... what a bitch-ass.

Bush was CONSTANTLY attacked by the media from all sides.... CNN, MSNBC and the rest were raping [GWB's] face.

Obama should go have a whineburger and some frenchcries and quit being such a whiny bitch.

RAWR RAWR KING DOUCHEBAG HERE
"

a whineburger? some frenchcries?

oh, really. so, where'd you lift that gem from? WorldNetDaily?

it isnt as if this is the first time Obama has publicly complained about big bad Fox News. it has been a common theme of his administration over the past 2 years to blame Fox News for their problems...whenever his approval rating dips, they start beating the drums, blaming Fox News. it is tiring and unbecoming of a President. its also VASTLY overstating the far reaching powers of FOX to say they are "contributing to the destruction of the country." give me a fucking break. whiny bastard.

if you dont see this his complaining as unnecessary, or at least petty and unproductive, I dont know what else to say to you other than "nice sock & sandal combo bro."

obama answered a direct question in an interview.

the correct answer, of course, is that fox news is teh suck. they're a mouthpiece for the GOP, an masquerade heavily biased opinion as journalism.

Fox blatantly pander to the retards who can't exercise critical thinking skills as they work in dead end service jobs and remain tools for the republican party's "trickle down economics" why? because Glenn Beck is a godly man. that's why.

of course not all Fox fans are retards. The multinationalist corporate executives shipping all your tech jobs overseas, love them. why? because policies supported by Fox News continue to widen the gap between rich and poor, eventually squeezing out the middle class.

So when all the GOP presidential primary candidates are on the Fox payroll (Huckabee, Palin, Gingrich, Santorum), will it be embarrassing for them, or glorious?

Gotta love the slant of this piece:

Quote :
"Stewart's Rally for 'Sanity' Draws Insane Crowd

“Good luck trying to get through that crowd to the stage.”

Those were the first words I heard within 15 minutes of joining the large crowd that flocked to the National Mall Saturday for the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear hosted by comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

To say that you couldn’t see the stage, or even hear it, wouldn’t be an exaggeration— many had to climb a tree (literally) to even catch a glimpse of the one jumbo TV screen.

“We did the march-of-the-penguins walk in the crowd for about an hour,” Georgetown University student Anam Raheem told me. “But it was too crowded; we had to turn back.”

Thousands of rally goers brought signs and costumes in support of politically hot-button issues.

“I came to meet some people,” said Mark Feeney, a resident of Buffalo, New York who sported a green outfit with a sign that displayed the benefits of marijuana. “But we have to be smart, not stupid. If we legalize pot, we’ll create more revenue and jobs.”

Although Proposition 19, which would legalize recreational marijuana in California, was one of the more common issues seen on signs, other topics were equally supported, such as abortion, equality for gays, space travel, and most vehemently, backlash against the Tea Party movement.

“I came to have fun,” Pennsylvania resident Eric Hafner said, “But we need to also show people that extremism is really overblown.”

Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell was most widely targeted, with many rally goers dressed as witches or giant tea bags, holding signs that read, “Tea Party rallies need more tea.”

Despite both Stewart and Colbert’s appeal to a younger generation, there was an eclectic age range of rally goers, including marijuana-supporting seniors.

“We love both the ‘Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report,'” said Diane Gatley who is 61. “Back to sanity for us. They’re truthy.”

Although the stage and entertainment was unseeable for at least half the rally goers there, there was a sense of community support that’s hard to find on a daily basis.

As one rally goer attempted to scale a tree for a better view of the stage, the crowd chanted, “Yes, you can!"

"^I believe that came from the Indian press corps."

It came from an anonymous source cited in a single article via the Indian equivalent of the AP.

Quote :
"For "security" reasons the white house wont say how much the trip does cost. ummmm, ok."

You're smarter than this. You know they never talk about this shit until it's over, and they NEVER talk about Secret Service procedures. Note that in the quote below, the Secret Service costs associated with presidential trips from almost 20 years ago are still classified.

For reference, at $200 million a day, that would be more costly than the entire war operation in Afghanistan. I don't think there's a single person on here stupid enough to believe that's remotely true.*

The Navy press secretary, although he couldn't talk specifics, basically said that anybody who believes they're diverting a tenth of the United States Navy for this is a fucking moron.

Quote :
"In Africa, Clinton was accompanied by about 1,300 individuals — not including members of the Secret Service — representing the White House, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. The president visited six countries in 12 days, which means the trip cost $3.6 million per day.

Clinton made the five-day Chile trip in order to attend the second Summit of the Americas — a meeting of 34 heads of state or governments from countries in the Americas — and to hold meetings with the president of Chile. About 600 individuals accompanied the president on the trip, which we calculated would have cost $2.1 million per day.

When Clinton visited China to conduct talks with the president of China, he brought along about 500 individuals. The trip lasted nine days, which works out to a little less than $2.1 million per day.

The total cost including Secret Service protection would of course be somewhat higher, but even doubling or tripling those figures and adding in an adjustment for inflation would not produce anything close to the figure given by the Indian news article for Obama’s trip. "

http://factcheck.org/2010/11/ask-factcheck-trip-to-mumbai/

There are so many real life cases of government waste. Why make up ones too?

Michelle Bachmann, Rush, Beck, and Don fucking Imus are all running with it, though, so it doesn't matter what the truth is. There are hordes of people who will take it at face value and, as last Tuesday showed, they fucking VOTE.

tl;dr we're doomed

spooky, Im not saying 200M a day is accurate at all. I was just saying where the story originated.

I also dont see a reason why they wont tell us the cost of the trip. (but really, does it matter?) People just want to compare to see if its grossly out of line with other presidential trips. Surely he is smart enough to not do that.

And I totally agree, I don't see why it should be such a big secret--I don't think that placing a price tag on a trip of this size would in any way endanger the president or his mission to drum up business for billionaires.

Can you show some examples of the White House releasing cost details of a trip like this before the trip?

I'm just wondering if that's a commonplace occurrence that they're legitimately dodging or if this is just another "let's say he's a Muslim so he has to waste time denying it" distraction.

I can say with certainty that the following is true:

1) If Obama had to snort a line of diamond-encrusted cocaine from DC to Mumbai, while stopping to down a fifth of Johnny Walker Blue Label at every mile, it'd still be 1/100th the cost of any real federal fiscal responsibilities.

2) Security expenditures and the like are determined by non-political, hired positions. Thus, whatever the dollar figure is-- I'm willing to accept it as reasonable.

I think this is correct as long as its not like over 4x the cost of other presidential trips. And I doubt this one is. But when you get a report, seemingly false at that, that it is going to be costing 200M a day...you can understand people wanting to hear the details/truth on such a claim.

The tutorial on money printing and commodities going up is spot on. It's just a shame he has to add all that other bullshit that his viewers eat up.

The dollar isn't what I'd call tanking yet

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=DXY:IND

If it breaks the all time low then we have real problems. However, notice just how soon after the QE announcement everyone and their brother started having problems with it, with the MSM being complicit in the info-noise. This is a pattern that has been going on since the crisis, the deflationists talk up deflation, the market buys into it to set the state for fiscal/monetary stimulus. Stimulus happens, inflationistas start complaining about inflation, stimulus is pulled. Rinse and repeat.

I don't actually expect we'll breach the all time lows on QE2, partially because other countries will race to devalue just as quickly as we can. Something somewhere else in the system (likely in China, but possibly in Europe) will crack before the dollar does.

chance, I fear defaults starting in the next couple years and the continued printing, making our dollar worth less but also making us a shitty borrower too. I hope im wrong but it looks as if we start seeing some states default first bringing in more federal trouble which will put pressure on further printing.

^^ Try finding the commodity data that goes up to today, not stops at the end of July (or beginning, since we can't quite tell from a glance at your graph).

Oh hell, you lifted that from Krugman. Fantastic. He couldn't be a bigger moron if he tried

Quote :
"In terms of level, by the way, the recovery in commodity prices has now brought the overall index about back to where it was in December 2007"

So, people are paying as much for energy/food as they were before the bubble blew up when they had jobs.

..still below ideal. BUT OMG. COLLAPSE. IMMINENT.
