AND PRESS CTRL + Q INSTEAD, ACCIDENTALLY EXITING FIREFOX
7/13/2010 10:33:00 PM
i think this thread exists solely to make people close their browsers, lol
7/13/2010 10:33:58 PM
Do you not have firefox restore all previous tabs on opening?Or use Chrome, ctrl+Q isn't anything but ctrl+W is still close current tab.]
7/13/2010 10:39:05 PM
i'm a ctrl + f4 kinda guy, myself
7/13/2010 10:42:02 PM

I remember the bad old days when Ctrl+Q closed Operaluckily they fixed thatnow I just want to be able to open links in a new tab that are anchored to images, like I used to back with Opera 10.1[Edited on July 13, 2010 at 11:02 PM. Reason :

What is this ... a Chit-Chat topic?But yes, I use Ctrl+W and Ctrl+T quite a bit ... but I won't ever admit to actually using a vim-shortcut plugin for Firefox and Chrome.
7/13/2010 11:15:40 PM
I don't recall ever making that particular mistake.
7/13/2010 11:46:16 PM
I middle-click.
7/13/2010 11:56:02 PM
i has no middle-click
7/14/2010 12:20:02 AM
I just click the "x" on the tab.
7/14/2010 3:26:41 AM
Alt+leftarrowkey
7/14/2010 7:36:06 AM
yeh, every now and then I fuck up and hit alt+f4 instead of ctrl+w.... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
7/14/2010 8:45:03 AM
I move my pointing device over the red X and press the button to the upper left of said pointing device.
7/14/2010 9:04:27 AM
Using the mouse is for newbies.
7/14/2010 9:07:22 AM
Unless you're on a mac, then its for masochists.
7/14/2010 9:10:17 AM
HIYO!

7/14/2010 9:34:11 AM
.... oooohhhh shit!
7/14/2010 9:35:20 AM
I don't merely control my computer, I COMMAND it to close the window. If I accidentally hit Q, then I COMMAND it to quit goddammit.
7/14/2010 9:41:47 AM
i don't close tabs
7/14/2010 9:48:08 AM
My FF keeps all tabs open upon shutdown, returning them to states they were so I dont have the OP's problem.
7/14/2010 10:23:41 AM
^
7/14/2010 10:36:47 AM
It might well reopen tabs, but it doesn't perfectly preserve tab states. You lose state in Flash objects, for instance.
7/14/2010 10:57:29 AM
I don't do that, but I window key-E all the time to open explorer.
7/14/2010 2:50:00 PM
^ one of my favorites. a lot of people i see right click on the start button and select explore all users or something retarded like that to get to windows explorer[Edited on July 14, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Reason : peers]

^There is no reason to spell that word in such a bastardized fashion.
7/14/2010 4:57:27 PM
there are people that don't use ctrl-f4?
7/14/2010 5:16:14 PM

i just mapped the otherwise fucking USELESS function keys to do shit like this in firefox: F1 is home (google.com), F2 is close tab, F3 is new tab, F4 is find againdon't understand why more people don't do this. it's ten times faster and easier than trying to contort my hand to do Crtl+W or Ctrl+T or Alt+Home.
7/17/2010 11:28:53 PM
I mapped the useless strings on my guitar to different fretsI don't know why people don't do that instead of contorting their fingers to play Am7
7/18/2010 1:19:23 PM
i routinely use F2, F3, F4, F5, F8, F9 and F10 for their native purposes
7/18/2010 1:32:00 PM
Why would you map F3 to something different and then map F4 to the original function of F3?
7/18/2010 3:08:52 PM
^^^^those combinations do not require hand contortions for methen again I never use the homepage (right now it's about:blank) so I don't regularly use Alt+Home
