Fucking dumbass at Sears failed to remove the security tag from my boots when i bought them. (I thought she was removing it when she took 5 minutes to take both shoes out of the box, inspect them, etc)

Anyway, can I remove the tag at home without fucking up my boots?

Had the same thing happen to me when I mail ordered some boots, as long as it's not a dye pack you are GTG with just prying it apart.

if you don't do it right, you might end up with a bunch of ink on your new stripper boots

If you have a wire hanger sometimes it works.

Take it back with the receipt and make them remove it.

I used a soldering iron to melt the plastic around the pin on a pair of old navy jeans once.

this is usually an effective and easy way:

take a rubber band and start to wrap it around the sliver of space between the tag and pin.

Keep wrapping it/twisting it around the area and eventually the pin and tag will separate.

of course this may be more difficult with boots.

i'd use a cutoff wheel on the plastic

the dye pack doesn't explode all over you. it's just there to fuck the clothes up. you could probably tie the dye side up in a plastic bag if you're worried about it.

I don't know how easily you can get your hands on some liquid nitrogen but that might help

The best option is to take it back and make them remove it, but if you insist on a home remedy, use a magnet. That's basically what the stores have.

I went ahead and took it back to sears. they took it all for me and they also gave me 10 percent off of the price from the boots.

it wasn't laziness per se, but stubbornness and the principal of the matter on why I didn't want to drive back to sears.

I did take my hacksaw and a pair of pliers to it, but then i decided it would be easier to have them remove it than to convince them to give me a new boot to replace the ink-stained one.
