first of all, this is crazy.second of all, my MS advisor used to go to japan every summer, and he said the reason he liked it so much is b/c everyone there took pride in their work, even the newspaper stand guys.

on a pretty unrelated note, i think the reaction of japan's citizens after the tsunami (no looting, etc) says a lot about them as a culture.
