http://www.zspotdeals.com/sidedeal/807.html?utm_source=ZSpotDeals.com&utm_campaign=d626369884-North+Raleigh+Massage&utm_medium=emailGets you a brewery tour for two and two pints of beer.Claims to be a $20 value for $10.However, tours at Roth don't cost anything and none of their beers cost $5 or more.So you're basically giving Zspot $10 for $6 worth of beer.I call Shenanigans.

3/28/2012 5:28:13 PM
actually they do charge for tours
3/28/2012 5:28:29 PM
Lol glad i checked this. Almost bought it
3/28/2012 5:29:36 PM
really?I asked a friend and he said they didn'thow much do they charge?also, that's a weird policydo the tours come with samples?
3/28/2012 5:29:43 PM
$5 I think
3/28/2012 5:30:55 PM
does the tour come with a free glass?the only beer tours I've been on that cost anything came with souvenir glasses and generous sampling
3/28/2012 5:33:46 PM
let it be known that I'm not hating on Roth or Zspot DealsI just think this is a dubious "deal"
3/28/2012 5:38:09 PM
Nice guysMediocre beer
3/28/2012 5:39:45 PM
Dark Construct was goodI've heard positive things about Foe Hammer but bottles seem priceyRaleigh Red was not good
3/28/2012 5:49:01 PM
Better watch out, their buddy might come up in this thread and try to white knight them again.
3/28/2012 5:52:19 PM
snewf, if the friend you asked is the one I think it is, of course he isn't going to know that they normally charge for tours if they still do, that is. I wouldn't know either
3/28/2012 6:40:16 PM
i've only been on one brewery tour that cost anything...red hook cost $1 and you got a 4oz glass (actual glass) and 6+ tastings...you keep the glass when you're done
3/28/2012 9:49:28 PM
Ok I'm glad there is a thread about Roth because this brewery is a fucking joke. I've had the red, foe hammer, and the cinnamon porter and not only do they taste different every time I drink them (which indicates the fact that they are complete amateurs), it always taste like ass. These idiots brag about being able to make beer in 10 days. Seriously, if you think good beer can be made in 10 days, you shouldn't be in the brewing business.
5/17/2012 3:29:43 PM
^ this. [Edited on May 17, 2012 at 3:37 PM. Reason : eh, people posted that in the old thread]
5/17/2012 3:36:11 PM
I think the other thread was too old. Not sure.
5/17/2012 3:41:51 PM
Boylan Bridge Brewpub had a Groupon over Thanksgiving weekend for $9 for a brewery tour, tasting and souvenir pint glasses for two.Beer was pretty good.I just asked my brother about Roth Brewing and he said he didnt think that they charged for tours and that their beer sucks
5/17/2012 3:44:49 PM
5/17/2012 3:47:45 PM
LOL try again Does Boylan have a new brew master? Their beer used to suck too but I'm pretty sure they have changed brewmasters at least once.[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 3:52 PM. Reason : lol]
5/17/2012 3:48:23 PM
I dont know. The owner of the brewery is the one that gave us our tour (weren't many people on the tour being that it was Thanksgiving weekend). It was also the day of the NC State/Maryland football game so my memory is kind of cloudy (drank a few beers before and after the tour watching the game)
5/17/2012 3:56:12 PM
Did they talk about how quickly they can produce beer?
5/17/2012 3:59:41 PM
I wanted to add 2 things:-I've never had a Roth beer that I enjoyed-I've gotten a similar Groupon for Aviator ($18 for tour for 2, 2 pint glasses, 2 stickers [wahoo, stickers] and a growler of Hot Rod Red). Aviator doesn't charge for tours either, but I guess the other stuff makes up for it...kinda of?
5/17/2012 4:04:53 PM
Aviator has some good beers.
5/17/2012 4:12:15 PM
I did the Boylan Bridge Brewpub tour via a groupon last year. The brewmaster is not the original one, he'd been there for I think less than a year at that point. But he seemed to know his stuff. The Pullman Porter was a favorite but all the ones we tried were pretty good.
5/17/2012 4:41:13 PM
^^^yeah I just bought one for aviator and then afterwards read the reviews saying that the tour was normally free. This is just a way to make you prepay for the growler and whatever that you weren't going to have to buy. It's shady as hell if you ask me.[Edited on May 17, 2012 at 4:42 PM. Reason : slow]

Exploitative website is exploitative.
5/17/2012 6:30:29 PM
i thought roth's "sex viking" dunkel was pretty good...overall, though, i can brew (and have brewed) better beers (IMO)
5/17/2012 6:32:59 PM
Sex Viking was pretty good, albeit a little flat (and I don't mean under carbonated, I mean one dimensional)Foe Hammer wasn't bad but it has a thin mouth feel for such a robust beer
5/17/2012 6:49:26 PM
the Roth brewer was in Tasty Beverage not long ago and he was kind enough to give me samplesswell guy and he had a good pitchbut I did think I heard him mention The Wolf Web to someone
5/17/2012 6:53:48 PM
I'm drinking Roth Red at pint night today just to spite this thread
5/17/2012 7:08:06 PM
why this thread?I'm not hating on the breweryI was just skeptical of the deal Zspot offeredpersonally, I don't like Roth Redbut I've never met a red that I liked - that's just my own taste
5/17/2012 7:09:33 PM
anyone who likes roth beer deserves to get their ca$h taken
5/17/2012 7:12:08 PM
5/17/2012 9:38:29 PM
The guy pouring Sex Viking at the beerfest was banging.
5/17/2012 10:21:05 PM
did i mention that their beer tastes bad
5/17/2012 10:25:11 PM
carolina brewing company gives free tours on Saturdays. Maybe that's where the confusion came from. Good people.
5/17/2012 10:31:44 PM
I agree that Roth beers taste different quite often. However, I have generally liked the Red, but only when I've had it at Backyard Bistro (there's been 2 times when it was bad though). The few times I got it at the Saucer, it tasted horrible.
5/18/2012 9:38:25 AM
^yeah that was where I first had it as well. And I also thought it was horrible.
5/18/2012 9:44:57 AM
All the places that I had seen it in the past no longer have it on tap. I just kind of assumed they went under since no one was carrying them anymore.
