in real life i've never really seen a 'racist' situation or been a part of one. i grew up as a minority in a mostly black neighborhood. nothing really ever happened. i might have gotten picked on or in some fights but i never thought of it as racist. it was just kids having fun and screwing aroundi only see people get truly racist when they're on the internet. and it happens a lot, mainly here on tww. which makes me: [Edited on March 28, 2012 at 11:10 PM. I do seriously want to have a discussion about this one day. I have definitely had situations that made me scared of black women because I said the wrong thing because I don't understand appropriateness or sensitivity of hair or booty, things of that nature and I have also been bullied by black women. Prob why for the longest time I wanted to be black just so I could understand and come across as scary strong. I have never moved over on the street to give a black person or hispanic person more room on a sidewalk and I have never said you people. There are just things I don't understand when it comes to things I am not.tl;dr[Edited on March 28, 2012 at 11:11 PM. Reason : don't hate me pls]

Deeply Embarrassed White People Talk Awkwardly About Racehttp://www.thestranger.com/seattle/deeply-embarrassed-white-people-talk-awkwardly-about-race/Content?oid=9747101"Today the same argument is made under the precious neologism that laws intended to redress racial inequity are themselves racist. "Racist is the new nigger," says Riz Rollins, the writer, DJ, and KEXP personality. "For white people, the only word that begins to approximate the emotional violence a person of color experiences being called a nigger from a white person is 'racist.' It's a trigger for white people that immediately conjures pain, anger, defensiveness—even for white people who are clearly racist. 'Racist' is now a conversation stopper almost like that device where you can skew a conversation by comparing someone to Hitler. It's an automatic slur. And only the sickest racists will own up to the description.""

racism vs. “racial insensitivity”http://questionbeggar.wordpress.com/2010/09/20/racism-vs-racial-insensitivity/Unlike generations past, we have a bigger problem with insensitivity than outright racism nowadays.I'm starting to believe that white guilt is a real thing that civil rights leaders need to be aware of and conscious of.[Edited on March 29, 2012 at 12:03 AM.
