Had quite the night out in NYC this week. Woke up in the hospital the next morning. I don't recall anything but based on my friends recollection, they got me back to the hotel at which point some stuff went down. Hotel people were anal and refused to let me go sleep it off and rather called for an ambulance.Basically, I got an ambulance ride and a bed to sleep in with the standard vitals check every few hours. Can't remember any tests being run and I wasn't hooked up to anything that morning.Hailing a cab back to my hotel shirtless was quite the sight. I'm pretty sure I won't stay at that hottel this week. Having never spent time in the ER, what kind of bill am I looking at?

That is an interesting point...If you refused the amber lamps ride, that's kind of like kidnappingAnd if you were kept in the hospital against your will, that's kind of like false imprisonment!!Seriously, it's kind of fucked up if you indeed didn't call for an ambulance and ask to stay in the hospital. That's...kind of...like...someone else signing you up for medical treatment against your will.

I too, have seen the hangover, and I too, can take the basis of the story and tweak it into something halfway interesting for TWWers to buy into...

4/21/2012 2:53:12 PM
without health insurance in cost me like 1200 just to walk into the ER for observation after having a reaction to medication.

Get a fake Canadian I.d.tell them you have free healthcare.

^if that's true, then anyone who has had anything to drink and makes the decision to drive shouldn't be held responsible.
4/21/2012 3:59:39 PM
yeah I hate that logicimpaired people do not have the ability to consent to sex or deny medical care, but they are completely responsible for any crime committed while impaired. cant have it both ways.

Let's see, $1000 for the ambulance ride, and a hotel room in new york city is expensive as shit (~$300) so we'll say getting checked on every hour for twelve hours is twelve times the cost. I will go with $4600, Bob.
4/21/2012 6:20:57 PM
And the results are in...4 block ride in the amboolamps - $870ER visit - no chargeThanks Dr. Awesomeman!

This happened to someone I know, and it was free. But they were in a country with socialized healthcare at the time.
5/2/2012 8:21:47 PM
^^ good point. And it'll come as multiple bills most likely.
5/2/2012 8:31:16 PM
Haha, yea - expect a separate bill from the hospital, the doctor, and more.
5/2/2012 8:40:47 PM
Yeahhhhhhh...those will trickle in at their own leisure. Had a doppler after giving birth which was in July. Got my radiologist bill in DECEMBER.

5/2/2012 8:44:36 PM
all you have to do is pay a dollar a month or something and they can't do shit. they'll pass the rest of the cost on to those of us who are responsible.
