6/21/2012 2:02:08 AM
Reminds me of the end of ace ventura 2
6/21/2012 2:04:14 AM
I saw one out by Shearon Harris last weekend.
6/21/2012 7:19:59 AM

6/21/2012 7:27:56 AM
fuck, now I'm about to go run my dogs and I know there are coyotes out there. usually they're only out at night though, right?
6/21/2012 7:50:25 AM
I had no idea there were coyotes around here.

friends of mine who live in the area tell me that they've starting seeing a bunch behind Crabtree Valley Mall
6/21/2012 8:14:02 AM
^^hehe, FTR I knew they weren't that big and that they were in the area. But I looked on wikipedia just to be sure hope nobody lies on wikipedia
6/21/2012 8:15:13 AM
i've seen more coyotes and foxes in recent months than i recall in previous years
6/21/2012 8:19:48 AM
sounds like we should all start packing heat! Or get bigger dogs
6/21/2012 8:26:43 AM
I would imagine a big dog would evoke a more aggressive territorial response
6/21/2012 11:27:34 AM
My dad has gotten several coyotes on his wildlife camera in Huntersville. The latest one looked a little slim/lanky for a "pure" coyote, I wonder if they're mixing with domesticated dogs there.

cant you shoot coyotes on sight anywhere?
6/21/2012 12:22:52 PM
say hello to ya mutha for me!
6/21/2012 12:40:32 PM
6/21/2012 12:48:21 PM
^^^I believe so
6/21/2012 1:48:40 PM
not in the city
6/21/2012 1:49:48 PM
ORLY?I would hope that the average person knows you can't discharge your firearm within city limits.
6/21/2012 1:51:52 PM
6/21/2012 1:52:32 PM
CROSSBOW!Because that's more legal.
6/21/2012 2:09:22 PM
I spotted one behind my house in Laurel Hills (near crabtree mall) recently. How dangerous are coyotes?
6/21/2012 2:16:50 PM
They aren't much of a danger to humans, cases of attacks are pretty uncommon, deaths are rare.
6/21/2012 2:23:18 PM
6/21/2012 2:31:20 PM
I think it's mostly small children and pets that you have to worry about with coyotes. Or the pack thing. A pack of coyotes can take down a bear if they want to.
6/21/2012 2:37:03 PM
6/21/2012 2:39:14 PM
Can someone explain the psychopathic knee-jerk reaction some default to of arbitrarily shooting something purely for the hell of it?
6/21/2012 3:10:06 PM
Well they're a pest and have been increasing their range nationwide. Being able to kill them at will is a measure to prevent the issue from getting worse. Not that I'm for wonton killings though
6/21/2012 3:11:44 PM
yeah lets save the wild hogs too while we're at it, theyre doing just terrible. [Edited on June 21, 2012 at 3:13 PM. Reason : oops, sarcasm!]
6/21/2012 3:13:30 PM
6/21/2012 3:13:42 PM
wontons can be little jerks though, i suggest drowning them in delicious sauce.waterboarding, if you will.
6/21/2012 3:14:40 PM
Predators have a knack for going for defenseless prey (be it something young, weak, naive, or injured). Put a baby out where it is unprotected and vulnerable, something might come along and take it. Leave your domesticated pets outside, unattended (or worse, chained to something)...don't be completely surprised if that coyote/bear/wolf/mountain lion/manbearpig that has been stealthily cruising through neighborhoods picks up on it and eats it.Pretty sure recent telemetry studies of mountain lions have shown that it is not uncommon that they sneak into neighborhoods, enter people's garages, etc. without anyone but the researchers ever knowing.
6/21/2012 3:15:30 PM
farmers do it to protect livestock, others do it to protect pets/children. those things are opportunists and will attack pretty much anything smaller than itself for food. very adaptable too[Edited on June 21, 2012 at 3:16 PM. Reason : ^that]
6/21/2012 3:15:55 PM
i'll shoot coyotes whenever/wherever it's legal. gotta keep the population in check somehow.
6/21/2012 3:19:10 PM
I say more power to the coyotes. It looks like they've adapted quite well given their circumstances combined with humans wiping out other top predators in a given area. If a parent or adult can't monitor their child/pet and the worst (subjective) happens, who's really to blame? I'm just trying to understand the egocentric mentality that can find it ethical to accept killing something they either fear or find to be an inconvenience.[Edited on June 21, 2012 at 3:27 PM. Reason : better word choice.]
6/21/2012 3:21:10 PM
wat
6/21/2012 3:24:07 PM
6/21/2012 3:25:38 PM
If that was shown to be an effective measure against those things you've listed, I'd round them all up myself! God damn Florida is a mess thanks to dumbasses.
6/21/2012 3:28:43 PM
Well, there are wildlife management concerns with regards to predator-prey imbalances and zoonosis (among other things), so in a world that has been mostly transformed for the benefit of our own species, sometimes humans have to step in and act as some sort of control. But don't take that statement as me denying that there aren't people in this world that enjoy killing certain types of wildlife purely for the sake of killing/fear/whatever...I study rattlesnakes...I know the concept all too well. However, when people discuss their desire to kill something legally, it's not just legal because of some loophole. When indeed done legally, hunting provides funds for quality wildlife management and ideally helps sustain populations even outside of the target species.[Edited on June 21, 2012 at 3:31 PM. Reason : i edit all of my posts.]
6/21/2012 3:30:00 PM
motherfucker said zoonosis
6/21/2012 3:32:38 PM
yea, that's right. What you gon' do bout it?
6/21/2012 3:33:15 PM
^^^ I agree with all of that. I suppose my annoyance stems from making the mistake of listening to KC and Carmen this morning on 106.1 and they were talking about the zoo that was flooded and the polar bear that escaped. That fat bitches first words on the matter was that she'd shoot it..... It's this "shoot first because I'm human rawr rawr" mentality that is horrifically pervasive and it drives me nuts.[Edited on June 21, 2012 at 3:34 PM. Reason : .]
6/21/2012 3:34:03 PM
take my dogs, turn around, and go the other way when i see a coyote takin' an evening stroll down through my neighborhood.which happens all too often here in southeastern texas.and these goddamned snakes.
6/21/2012 3:34:41 PM
it's not just legal, it's encouraged. there used to be bounties on the damn things.
6/21/2012 3:35:15 PM
Polar bear: You think you're tough? Then come say the shit you said about me and my friends to our facesCan't wait to see your bitch ass crying when you get taken out
6/21/2012 3:37:33 PM
YO GOV, I CAME UP ON THIS HERE COYOTE WHEN I WAS ON A "JOG", CAN I TAKE IT OUT?
