I'm for it, but only if they drink.

Just don't go. Facebook as made hs reunions obsolete.
7/6/2012 1:34:58 PM
My high school had a picnic at Pullen Park for people that wanted to do shit with their kids and a party at some crappy Glenwood South bar for everyone else. Picnic was in the early afternoon and the party in the evening.

'Cept you can't bang the girl from your trig class over facebook
7/6/2012 1:37:17 PM
High school sucked.Why relive it?
7/6/2012 1:39:52 PM
high school only sucked for losers
7/6/2012 1:42:22 PM
for a lot of people, high school was their peak.it's all they'll ever have, so they'll do anything they can to relive it.

my reunion had a few different events over the weekend. They were trying to do something for everyone. I think it was Friday night they rented out a local bar. Saturday they had a pot luck and pool party at the local pool where you could bring your kids. Then Sunday they had a golf tournament for anyone who wanted to do that.I didn't go, so I have no idea how it worked out but it sounded good in theory My wife's class (she graduated a year before I did) didn't even have a reunion due to facebook, etc.[Edited on July 6, 2012 at 2:39 PM. This thread just made me realize that my 20 year HS reunion is only 4 years away
7/6/2012 2:40:58 PM
our reunion was a blast
7/6/2012 2:48:42 PM
My class met for a football game on Friday night, then went to a bar afterward. Sounded fun but I wasn't able to be there that night. On Saturday there was a BBQ lunch at a local park that folks could bring their kids to, which was fine...the "with kids" and "without kids" camps stayed mostly separate. There was supposed to be a nice dinner and dancing on Saturday night but that got cancelled due to lack of interest, probably because asking for $40/person didn't go over well.Despite that I think a multi-event strategy like this is the way to go.[Edited on July 6, 2012 at 2:52 PM. Reason : Though I would have been willing to cough up the $80 for the night event.]
7/6/2012 2:50:58 PM
We had a whole weekend (that I did not attend). Friday night: Homecoming GameSaturday night: Dinner @ Solas upstairs (lots of people just went to the bar afterwards because it was so damn expensive)Sunday afternoon: Picnic at a local church that has a park for kids to play
7/6/2012 2:51:36 PM
Yeah I don't get why these reunions cost $texas. What happened to the days of just having it in the school gym with some kegs and finger foods?
7/6/2012 2:53:40 PM
ITT we all peaked in high school
7/6/2012 2:54:34 PM
my HS didn't bother with the 10 year reunionalmost everyone I know from HS moved awayand nobody wants to come back to Rocky Mount

My reunion is in September. Looking at the list of people who have confirmed on facebook, I'm pretty sure it's just going to be facebook IRL. Bring your shitty kids to talk about your shitty kids and the shitty house you live in with your shitty husband in the shitty town you never left. I can't understand why people with any semblance of a fulfilling life would want to go to one of these.
7/6/2012 2:57:56 PM
I didn't attend my class reunion, but one of the events was a little afternoon Meet & Greet that children were welcomed to attend.
7/6/2012 2:58:02 PM
^^ lol that more or less sums up what my reunion appeared to be.
7/6/2012 3:00:11 PM
Yeah I'm from a rural high school, my reunion is coming up this month and it consists of "Kegs down by the river!"
7/6/2012 3:15:49 PM
The general consensus I've gathered from talking with other people who were at my school around my time was that my class was a bunch of assholes (beyond normal teenage douchebagginess). Factor in the fact that at least 5-10% of my graduating class are now convicted felons (that I know of) and its not necessarily a desirable occasion to go to.The class above me and the class below me I wouldn't mind seeing those folks again but I really have no desire to see anyone out of my class save for the friends I keep up with and know about already.
7/6/2012 3:28:25 PM
^ Opposite for me, my class was the good one surrounded by crap. We were the great hope for improved test scores
7/6/2012 3:31:43 PM
Lol speaking of children at HS reunion, I know at least 2 girls in my class had kids in 8th grade so those kids are like 14 years old now
7/6/2012 4:14:50 PM
I've told this story here before, but I'll say it again, cause it's funny.Basically, one of our classmates sent a mass message to all of us on Facebook saying "HAY GUYZ LETS DO 10 YEAR REUNION K?" and the respond was "OMG SURE."So there was a facebook group with some interest, ideas kicked about, and all sorts of stuff. Then, out of nowhere, the message came about "HAY SEND ME 60 DOLLABUCKS PER PERSON, WE'RE GONNA DO A CRUIZE ON THE POTOMAC ON A RIVERBOAT. WEAR A SUIT OR DRESS. THX." From here, people went ballistic "OMFG I DON'T HAVE 60 DOLLABUCKS AND WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH MY 14 YEAR OLD SON THAT I HAD IN 8TH GRADE." So the response was "MK WE'LL DO THE FOOTBALL GAME AT THE SCHOOL THE NIGHT BEFORE IF YOU WANT TOO. PAY YOUR OWN WAY."From a class of 450+ people, about 70 sent in their 60 bucks (plus another 60 for a date) to the chick for the cruise. This wasn't enough to cover the deposit... but it WAS enough to pay for a first-class trip to Hawaii, which the girl immediately took. Glad I didn't send a dime.Nobody went to the football game, that I knew of. There was talk of suing her, but I don't know that anything came out of it.And that was my 10 year reunion. I doubt there'll be a 20.[Edited on July 6, 2012 at 4:23 PM. Reason : omg did we go to the same school? 14 year olds everywhere!]
7/6/2012 4:23:03 PM
thank God for facebook, I got to see what I missed by not going in the infinity pictures that were taken and posted
7/6/2012 4:32:49 PM
I didn't make my 10-year reunion, because I was in Iraq. I guess next year would be the 15-year; don't know if there will be one for that. Probably not, I'd guess. At any rate, if anyone is even talking about bringing kids to a HS reunion, that's a clear indicator that you need to schedule it at a location that is strictly 18+ or 21+. Take the option off the table altogether...and for that matter, you're probably better off excluding any dumbass who would have brought kids, anyway.

Ive always wondered who takes it upon themselves to plan these things, why, and how they manage to find people that have changed addresses many times and live halfway across the country/globeSo, I suppose if it would please you, rephrase the above into interrogative form and proceed

I wouldn't kind going to mine. Just to see how everyone is doing. I only took advantage of younger chicks so I won't run into any exes.

I think less than 20 people (including dates) actually attended my 10 year reunion. I didn't go but saw the pictures online. It just looked like an incredibly depressing party.

My 10 year was almost 2 years ago. They did several events that covered the gamut of kid friendly to adult only. Friday night they met up at the football game. Kids were totally fine and we brought both of ours. Afterwards we hit up a Mexican restaurant together and that was still cool for the kiddos. Couple beers, little karaoke, that was it. Next day they did a tour of the HS campus (which had some new buildings added and old ones destroyed) but I worked at the HS and so I had seen all that shit. That night they did a "fancy" party where they reserved a place and were asking like $30-$40 a person. I declined as I got to spend as much time with the people I actually enjoyed on Friday and there was no obligation to hang out. Had some attendance from the pictures, but nothing spectacular. Certainly not worth my time and money and back then I had a free babysitter around the corner.
