you're taking an entry level position in their company, and more than likely getting entry level pay. It is a hiring companies market right now. gotta love all those jobs that were made out there for us!anyway, good luck with the hunt!

I once went to an interview for an "entry level position". A few minutes into the interview and I figured out this position was over my head... and required a PE (not stated nor described well on the online description)... turns out they wanted someone with 4-5 years of experience/new PE. That is NOT entry level in engineering.
We typically hire entry level into the Associate level of engineering, needing bachelors or the equivalent in experience. It helps if you interned though.^ that aounds like a ploy to hire someone on at a lower level so they could pay less, and still get someone with a PE. Even if successful, the company likely wouldn't be able to retain that employee for long[Edited on July 17, 2012 at 8:55 AM. Reason : K]

that BigMan157 collage reminds me of Lavern and Shirley. Lavern's favorite drink was pepsi and milk.

^^, ^^^,would you still do the same job you do, right now, if it only paid $20k a year? I definitely wouldn't. I'd do what I needed to do to switch to a better paying career. For now, those of us that are technophiles are the lucky ones.[Edited on July 17, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Reason : .]

That said, there's a certain mendoza line where, assuming a certain level of income, even significant incremental increase in income for other jobs would not be attractive to me.^^most definitely, it'd be a matter of "what do I like the most or hate the least", and pays the most?like qntmfred, my dream job would be in teaching, and for me specifically a high school teacher. But I like not worrying about feeding my kid more. [Edited on July 17, 2012 at 10:08 AM. Reason : .]

i just want to get out of construction. i hate dealing with the people in this industry and there are no signs of a younger generation coming in. everyone i deal with is 40+.
7/17/2012 10:24:25 AM
^Does that mean lots of job opportunities will be opening up? I'd love to be more on the construction side of things, but very long working hours, shitty weather, lots of travel, and often lower pay keep me on the design side.I think a lot of my friends who did construction in college/started working in the industry are trying to find jobs with more office time, better hours, and often better pay.
7/17/2012 10:27:35 AM
Here's my whining for a sec....I work a job I don't like to pay the bills, but volunteer my ass off outside of work to learn the skills necessary to do the job that I lurve. Sadly I didn't figure out what I like until AFTER college, so I wasn't smart enough to go thru a degree program that would put me in the right position. So one of these days I'll get to do a job I lurve and actually get paid bank for it. Until then, I work a job I can't stand and barely get any sleep because of all the other projects I work on.
7/17/2012 10:41:29 AM
Oh my GOD the word 'lurve' bothers me so muchNever ever ever say it again

I agree with BobbyDigital I used to be passionate about playing poker, that is until I started playing poker 40 hours a week. I'd probably get sick of doing anything if I had to do it 40 hours week after week. For now I'm quite content to find a career that pays well, that I don't hate, which will allow me to continue to pursue my current passions during the abundance of time when I am not working.
