why don't more of you open carry?
7/21/2012 6:47:52 PM
don't want anyone to get scared and make a thread on tww
7/21/2012 7:33:57 PM
Because most people are going to destinations that do not allow weapons, why carry one if youll have to turn around and put it back in your car once you get to where youre going? And have you checked the car seats, floorboards and dashboards of the gun nuts? I bet youll find a gun or twopeople open carry when they are fishing and shit like that all the time[Edited on July 21, 2012 at 9:58 PM. Reason : f]

Go to wal-mart...you can see a nut open carrying there everynow and then...
7/21/2012 10:00:24 PM
saw one there the other day, matter of fact
7/21/2012 10:03:30 PM
I dont open carry b/c while you can open carry legally, in the same minute you can get arrested for going armed to the terror of the public b/c some soccer mom saw you with your gun. I open carry when I'm hunting, but never in public. I conceal.
7/21/2012 10:19:59 PM
Open carry is a bad idea for several reasonsmost people would not be using a retention holstermost people have no training in weapon retentionmost people lack the situational awareness in a public place to open carry and retain the weaponeven police, who are trained in weapon retention and use retention holsters, can occasioanlly be disarmed.

7/21/2012 11:04:03 PM
Why advertise and be the first target?
7/21/2012 11:24:21 PM
I open carry regularly. I have a retention holster, retention training, and don't fear soccer moms.
7/22/2012 6:24:29 AM
so basically you're all pussies (except for MaximaDrvr)got it
7/22/2012 6:44:48 AM
yup, grade A certified

Once again Settledown proves his lack of inteligence.Go ahead. Open carry. Its more trouble than its worth.
7/22/2012 7:07:41 AM
I was at the Bojangles in Lillington and the fat, white trash, cashier lady threw an absolute fit because this guy was open carrying and wouldn't take his order. He was wearing slacks and a tucked in polo but she thought that since he wasn't police, he shouldn't be carrying a gun in a restaurant. So the dude left, went through the drive through, and came back in to sit down and eat with his buds.
7/22/2012 8:29:03 AM
if more people open carried it would become normal and you people wouldn't have to be so nervous to exercise your rights
7/22/2012 8:41:01 AM
i CC instead of OC for the most obvious reasoni don't want folks to know i've got a gun
7/22/2012 10:01:28 AM
People open carry in my little town and no one cares. You're going to see at least one person open carrying in Walmart.
7/22/2012 10:35:31 AM
^^ exactly. There are a host of reasons why I cc but it all boils down to that.
7/22/2012 11:09:50 AM
^^^pretty much thatEspecially in Cary. Could you imagine all the soccer moms flipping their shit? Also I think Cary doesn't allow open carry anyways.
7/22/2012 11:13:52 AM
Can't open carry in Texas but even when I was in NC I cc'ed because like stated above I would rather people not know I am packing. If it were common practice I would probably oc though just because it is more comfortable.
7/22/2012 11:21:31 AM
Since when can you not open carry in Texas? I remember seeing that ALL the time
7/22/2012 11:25:42 AM
i can't remember the last time i saw someone open carrying
7/22/2012 11:38:46 AM
It's pretty common in Mebane. Definitely makes me feel a bit safer in general.
7/22/2012 11:45:59 AM
Im living in NM atm, saw my first OC. Wasnt scared.
7/22/2012 2:29:27 PM
if you're interested in deterring an attack you'll open carryif you're one of those sad people with a self defense fantasy, you'll conceal your weapon
7/22/2012 2:35:07 PM
ok
7/22/2012 2:47:51 PM
7/22/2012 3:44:53 PM
do not encourage this dude
7/22/2012 3:45:43 PM
^^ there are plenty of gun nuts that disagree with you[Edited on July 22, 2012 at 4:11 PM. Reason : http://www.opencarry.org]

People get so bent out of shape at the sight of a gun. It's just easier, and honestly more considerate, to carry concealed. Sure there are other reasons but on a daily basis I just dont want it to preoccupy people around me or have to talk to anyone about it. I assume it's like tattoos, after a while you just get tired of explaining yourself.
7/22/2012 4:14:52 PM
7/22/2012 4:15:51 PM
Must not be enforced in some places then? Granted, i was a child for most of my time in TX but I've seen at least one OC every time I've visited since.
7/22/2012 4:19:23 PM
Ace in the hole > Showing all your cards. But I'm not a gun nut so I guess this thread isn't directed at me.
7/22/2012 4:28:02 PM
y'all would rather someone fuck with you so you can shoot them instead of them just leaving you alone
7/22/2012 4:34:35 PM
What makes you think that?
7/22/2012 4:36:38 PM
I know gun nuts
7/22/2012 4:40:34 PM
Well you can't argue with logic like that.
7/22/2012 4:47:35 PM
this is an honest question - does anyone know of a real world instance of someone open carrying in the united states during a period of domestic peacetime that was the victim of the "first one shot" scenario?
7/22/2012 4:59:45 PM
^ Richmond VA in 2011. Victim was disarmed during a robbery and then shot. Hundreds more have been disarmed during a robbery and had their guns used in later crimes. CCW holders have the advantage of being unknown and can choose to intervene or not. Open carrying puts you into the middle as soon as you're noticed. But go ahead and keep telling us how concealed carry is just for Rambo fantasies.

7/22/2012 7:39:23 PM
I'm getting the same information that you guys are posting on opencarry.org re: disadvantages of open carrybut they claim the statistics don't back any of these reasons uphundreds of open carrying civilians have had their own weapons used against them? really?sometimes I forget how useless it is to discuss probability with a gun nutafter all, their whole deal is defending against a scenario common on television but rare in real life[Edited on July 22, 2012 at 7:50 PM. 1,246,248 violent crimes in the United States in 2010. Yup, not common at all.
