i'm currently sitting on 7Kthat's probably my record
7/26/2012 7:50:30 PM
had it changed today at about 8k
7/26/2012 7:53:45 PM
i stopped since i have an oil leak so it just naturally changes itself over time
7/26/2012 8:09:22 PM
^I did that with my 1995 Honda...changed the oil every 8 or 9 thousand miles. Coulda been what ultimately led to her demise...My new car says it only needs the oil changed every 10k miles.
7/26/2012 8:14:26 PM
8k
7/26/2012 8:19:40 PM
16k
7/26/2012 8:33:44 PM
7.5k, 5k recommended
7/26/2012 8:34:29 PM
i was told it was ok to go 7k with oil. maybe i use special oil or something. i just go when the sticker tells me too. or a couple hundred after. cuz i procrastinate.lol cars
7/26/2012 8:37:16 PM
Once ran into a girl who hadn't had her oil changed in 40,000 miles. I don't know how her vehicle was still running.

7/26/2012 8:43:06 PM
one time i went like 3,005 miles.i was afraid my car was going to explode.
7/26/2012 8:49:31 PM
I'm currently at like 8k over i thinkI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
7/26/2012 8:50:32 PM
what's this "oil change" of which you speak?
7/26/2012 8:50:41 PM
probably at about 7 months, but only 2600 miles or so
7/26/2012 8:51:20 PM
about 1 day too long. dropped my engine on 40. That $20 oil change turned into $4k real quick.needless to say, I change it every 3,000 miles now
7/26/2012 9:01:33 PM
3000 is generally overkill with almost any normal car and today's oils. I change the oil in my truck (and anything else that I run conventional oil in) every 5k.in my Corvette, I run full-synthetic (Mobil 1 extended protection) and just change it when the computer says so (it monitors throttle position and RPM and stuff, so the mileage varies...prob 10-12k on average).
7/26/2012 9:09:16 PM
every 5k on the 4runnerevery 12k on the bimmer
7/26/2012 9:22:47 PM
haha. i just thought about this.it's been just over two years, but I've only driven about 2k miles. I should probably get it changed sometime soon.
7/26/2012 9:24:34 PM
12k maybe more in an old 2.5L wrangler

I was at a little more than 9,000 miles last time I got the oil changed. Usually I do get it changed every 3-4,000
7/27/2012 10:07:59 AM
7/27/2012 10:12:48 AM
the way my car is acting now, i dont think im going to bother getting another one. every time i drive it i wonder if im going to end up on the side of the road.the day it happens, i'll probably just abandon it, or leave the keys on the dashboard and walk home.
7/27/2012 10:18:56 AM
I get the oil changed at 3k, that's what everybody does here. It does come out very dark around 3k if you check it with the dipstick. I guess it is down to the weather here (too much sand and very high temperatures most of the year). One time I left it till 5k, that's the longest.
7/27/2012 10:20:11 AM
^^ when was the last time you had new spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter?
7/27/2012 12:24:24 PM
About 23k give or take a thou. Fuck all that 3k noise. Fuck all that 5k noise. I change it when I feel like it. Which is fucking never. But then I add about 2 gallons between changes. iVTEC oil burning beast.
7/27/2012 12:29:48 PM
11k To be fair, that was on Mobil 1 full synth. Only about 8 months. Factory interval on dino oil was either 5k or 6k, so I generally aimed for 7-8k on synthetic.Buddy of mine uses that Mobil 1 formulation that claims it can go for 15k and he usually takes it to/past 20k. Though he drives so much he still ends up changing it every 6 months or so.[Edited on July 27, 2012 at 2:14 PM. Reason : d]

~8,000 milesaverage mileage is about 6500.]
7/27/2012 2:25:11 PM
Around 50,000 miles. It was a lease. Still had the factory oil filter on it when I finally did change it.
7/27/2012 2:26:59 PM
I just wait til it runs out, then refill it.
7/27/2012 7:48:04 PM
maybe 6k? or 6 months? i'm generally pretty good about that
7/27/2012 9:21:49 PM
Hell, my "94 Civic recommends every 7,500 miles in teh owners manual...
7/27/2012 10:37:01 PM
~8k. I've been told to go until the filter itself needs to be replaced. The oil always looks great still when we change it.
7/27/2012 10:40:38 PM
it depends very heavily on how you drive. young males should change the oil in their car more frequently.also in a mild stable climate like NC, you should run single weight oil. those chemicals they put in there to make the oil behave thinner when it is cold wear out and stop doing that job very easily.
7/27/2012 10:49:02 PM
what is single weight oil? (do i have to turn in my man card for not knowing that???)
7/27/2012 10:58:32 PM
Motor oil has a certain thickness (viscosity) depending on it's temperature. since the engine is much colder when you start it up in the morning, it's nice to have oil in there that can be more liquidy when it's cold. The motor oil companies accomplish this by using special chemicals. It's a different secret blend for each company. Those chemicals break down quickly and your oil then behaves like single weight oil with about 10% non-lubricating useless garbage in it. The same thing happens if you mix brands or if you "top it off" with the wrong brand. If you drive hard or you don't change your oil on schedule + u don't live in the desert or the arctic = you should run single weight oil. like if your car calls for 10W30, you should use HD30. If your car calls for 5W20, you should run HD20. Your oil will do a much better job lubricating and make your engine last longer.Last point is this: it's your oil filter that needs to be changed, not the oil. so in the end, disregard this oil crap and change the damn oil.Last Last point: you can get better gas mileage by running thinner oil. this is a good tactic if you're going to drive easy in a car you don't own or one that is about to get sold or thrown away soon.[Edited on July 28, 2012 at 3:28 PM. pilgrimshoes, when you getting a new ride? I vote for a big ass texas truck. As for me, I think I went about a year with my little S-10 pickup, but I had only done about 3000 miles in that time. In the current car I've never gone more than 3500 miles/3 months.
7/28/2012 3:43:37 PM
