will I be able to jerk off a spider?
9/14/2012 2:47:32 PM
no.
9/14/2012 2:47:50 PM
screw that thenand doing a bee beard this time of year is pretty irresponsible
9/14/2012 2:48:23 PM
looks precisely like the kind of place i'd like to go to never.
9/14/2012 2:51:45 PM
So I can pet bugs and eat them at the same show? Also seems pretty irresponsible. But then again, I guess it's no different than the State Fair. I can go watch pigs race, then go grab me a fat ass sausage dog.[Edited on September 14, 2012 at 2:53 PM. Reason : a]

I accidentally stumbled upon this 4 or so years ago. It taught me about vermicomposting. That's all I really remember about it though.

The stag beetle wrestling sounds sad.
9/14/2012 4:37:47 PM
don't they do it naturally to fight over females?if anything, you're just watching something that would happen anyway, firsthand.
9/14/2012 4:39:33 PM
Yea, it happens naturally. But 2 males corralled to fight is staged and something that is generally frowned upon in other taxa (regardless of whether injury/death occurs).
9/14/2012 4:47:12 PM
What a great place to pick up a one night stand
9/14/2012 6:41:03 PM
^^^^ - Not if they oil them up.
9/14/2012 6:48:05 PM
9/14/2012 11:55:20 PM
Well, I didn't say it was cruel, just that it made me sad (mostly for the fact it's hosted by NCSM) and that sort of stuff is generally frowned upon. But really, none of the beetles will really injure one another, so it's not that bad.And I'd argue there are other taxa whose exploitation is socially accepted, but I'll refrain from further derailing your thread.[Edited on September 15, 2012 at 12:20 AM. I mean, they get fed more than any wild insect... and since they are in captivity they typically live longer than their wild brethren. The most 'danger'/harm they are exposed to is during outreaches and Bugest where kids get to hold them.sad, I guess, but that is nature baby.also, I hate the screaming kids. If you brought a screaming kid today, fuck you.[Edited on September 15, 2012 at 5:37 PM. Reason : .]

You could just feed them some of your pizza. Same thing.

9/15/2012 7:15:21 PM
lol. i love how you always show up to talk some shit.sandhills next weekend, bruh.
9/15/2012 10:29:20 PM
Maybe it was just me, but compared to previous years, this years was kinda lame. Ton of vendors outside, no bug food (themed or otherwise). Not a lot of bug groups outside. And inside was either hissing cockroaches or brown praying mantises. One tarantula. 1.
9/15/2012 11:23:21 PM
lol, I was at the praying mantids this morning. I have no idea how the rest of the event was because I was sorta tired.and yea, if your little shit came up to me and said they really wanted to hold the walking stick or the mantid and then dropped it on the ground, and kicked it away from you and then screamed in my face as I had to crawl on the ground before it got stomped out (you know who you are) and then just laughed it off like, kids will be kids.... yea, I don't care and I hate your kid.
9/16/2012 12:15:53 AM
^That sounds really fucking awful, I'm sorry.
