say you're given the opportunity to get in a shuttle and never come back. the shuttle is guaranteed to not fail, has large windows and enough food and fuel to outlive you. you can take any form of media that exists when you leave, and have storage space for whatever you want to take (but you know, you have to be able to name it, you can't take "all of the books", for instance). you're not going to die of any weird space disease or anything, just live the rest of your life floating around in space by yourself, checking out the stars and reading.would you get on this shuttle?what if it left in a week? or a year?

Please tell me this shuttle exists and that you are going to be on it.

maybe later in life, i have too much left to do, and too many ppl to spend more time around
9/14/2012 11:46:22 PM
can i surf the wolfweb on the shuttle live? or is there an 8 minute delay?
9/14/2012 11:48:51 PM
As long as this space ship has phasers and faster than light drive capabilities to visit said stars.
9/14/2012 11:49:16 PM
oh no i meant like looking at them. not actually going there.
9/14/2012 11:57:33 PM
as long as it's a bigger shuttle than elon musk's, i'm in
9/14/2012 11:57:51 PM
No.
9/14/2012 11:57:52 PM
hell no.if you care that much about seeing beautiful stuff in outer space, there are tons of telescopes you can use and observatories you can visit.no way i would sacrifice everything i know and love just for a better view
9/15/2012 12:07:41 AM
will the shuttle be taking off on a treadmill?
9/15/2012 12:12:00 AM
Faster than light? Yes, depending on how fast.Otherwise? No.
9/15/2012 12:16:07 AM
it's not just about the view, you would get to go to space!
9/15/2012 12:34:51 AM
not being able to talk to others would prolly drive many insane. week would be cool though.
9/15/2012 1:13:07 AM
Watch this and your answer will be NO.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/
9/15/2012 3:46:12 PM
Absolutely not. Even traveling twice the speed of light would take something like 20 years to get to the nearest star that isn't the sun. And even then, when you get there, oh cool you get to see a star up close but then what? Another 30 years to see something else? Space is way larger and more spread out than the human mind can begin to comprehend.
9/15/2012 3:50:28 PM
proxima centauri would only take a few years
9/15/2012 5:14:47 PM
nah
9/15/2012 5:17:57 PM
any women coming on this shuttle with me?
9/15/2012 5:23:22 PM
hell no
9/15/2012 5:28:19 PM
My first reaction to this was why the hell would I want to do this? But then I realized in the given scenario I dont have to work ever againAnswers still no, but that point had me thinking for at least another 2 seconds
9/15/2012 5:51:22 PM
guarantee me weed, mushrooms, a sustained internet connection and i'm in
9/15/2012 6:05:49 PM
9/15/2012 6:26:48 PM
9/15/2012 6:33:06 PM
okay let me point out that in this scenario you are explicitly not "traveling" to distant star systems. i understand how far that is. stop pointing out to me that other stars would be hard to get to.you're just out in nothingness.
9/15/2012 7:10:01 PM
you can't go faster than the speed of light just like you can't time travel.
