Last year at the World Beer Fest in Durham there were plenty of women acting like it was Oktoberfest.

well, yeah...women love an excuse to dress slutty one day i'll actually make it to munich, but until then i was hoping for something a bit more "real" oktoberfest-y than just girls showing cleavage and beer (but maybe that's the best i'll get)

Charlotte has a good one, but it's sold out
9/20/2012 8:56:45 AM
are you telling me i should have planned this sooner if i wanted to go to a good one?i scoff at the idea
9/20/2012 8:57:30 AM
haha no, charlotte's is always in late september. it's a good event for the beer, but it's not really a traditional oktoberfest if that is what you are looking for.

I've been to the Helen, GA Oktoberfest before...it was a lot of fun

^ so, is it more than something like the world beer festival in moore square every year? is it more cultural (ie. german dress, music, food, etc)?i assume there's plenty of different beers to drink?
9/20/2012 11:56:31 AM
^ I would imagine much more towards the latter, while most things around here would be closer to the former. There are Youtube videos that might give you a taste...

Just got back from lunch at Guglhupf and they had some signs up about some sort of Oktoberfest they're doing on the 29th. It's not showing up on their website but you could call them and ask about it: 919.401.2600. I just remembered the sign saying something about beer, brats, and live music.
