so i was just at my shop checking on some pieces that I was electroforming and i almost sat on this little fucker...when i noticed him i freaked eventually got him covered with the container and i have some videos uploading to youtube..here are the videos:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX4Fo8LLb3Ihttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gB2Oopaw2s..this is a copperhead..right? It is the second one I have seen in two weeks at my shop. the first one was sitting out in the middle of day right next to the front door of my shop just basking in the sun..he was much bigger than this little one though.what is with all these guys around all of a sudden..never seen them like this before. it is to the point that I wont get out of my car at night without a flashlight pointing at the ground as i walk to the shop just to make sure i dont step on any..shit sucks[Edited on October 4, 2012 at 9:36 PM. 10/4/2012 9:37:58 PM
Copperheads? All up in MY shit? It's more likely than you think
10/4/2012 9:39:18 PM
Definitely a copperhead. My first concern would be how they are getting inside. Of course, your shop might not be so sealed.[Edited on October 4, 2012 at 9:42 PM. Reason : .]

I heard they have a road...and I keep thinking that white thing in the pic is your giant foot with really odd shoes on[Edited on October 4, 2012 at 9:41 PM. Reason : d]

yeah saw one of these guys at an intersection the other night. he gave a couple strikes towards my tire as i went by. the car behind me ran over him; made him pop pretty good

idk what kind of shop that is, and not to be a buttmunch, but it looks pretty dirty and generally crappy so I imagine bugs and rodents and snakes would naturally be attracted to it :3

LolThanks for the inputThis isn't actually my shop .. This is the garage next to it...I left the garage door open and I guess he slithered in while it was.. There are a lot of branches and shit in the driveway which probably didn't help. (It's not my house so I am not cleaning that shit)My shop is a separate building which is off the ground ( and much much dirtier inside )[Edited on October 4, 2012 at 10:08 PM. Reason : Sh]

After watching the first vid it sounds like I put in a little sound effect when he strikes..shit scurred me
10/4/2012 10:11:10 PM
i found this one at work last week
10/4/2012 10:15:00 PM
IM SCARED TO GO TO WORK
10/4/2012 10:19:38 PM
So, did you like put it back outside or kill it or call animal control?THE SUSPENSE
10/4/2012 10:21:09 PM
I have a fence rail full of dead rattle snakes at my cabin off the blue ridge parkway. Biggest one has 8 rattles, the neighborhood dog up there is a champ at finding them.
10/4/2012 10:21:10 PM
put it back outside..it was in the front yard when i left..seems like he was quite tired from the whole ordeal
10/4/2012 10:22:08 PM
I'm actually kind of glad you didn't kill it.
10/4/2012 10:23:41 PM
why would i kill it?im an animal lover
10/4/2012 10:26:56 PM
OMG - I'm a girl - ....just peed a little... and am not positive I wouldn't have killed it with fire...Furthermore, there's NO way it'd have ever gotten outta the box until it was a little skeleton of a snake.ahhh... squeeel!!..... (and stuff)
10/4/2012 10:33:58 PM
That is a pretty snake...that being said he would have been dead
10/4/2012 10:37:17 PM
Saw this guy in our street the other night. Think it may have been a juvenile as it was probably about 2 feet long. I've never seen a copperhead around here before. I guess it made it across the road as I drove by the next day and there wasn't any roadkill
10/4/2012 11:32:15 PM
Def a copperhead. maybe your garage has a mice problem, and the predator is just going where the prey is.
10/4/2012 11:38:06 PM
dont be pussies. kill the snakes.
10/5/2012 12:04:02 AM
My dad said he saw one on the driveway the other day while he was outside doing some wood work. I was shocked because I would have though the noise from table saw would scare them away.
10/5/2012 12:26:11 AM
I saw a baby snake at my apartment complex near Crabtree mall. It was in the middle of the walkway between buildings. The nearest trees are pretty far away, so im not sure what it was doing. It also had a really hard time slithering on the cement. I pushed it in some landscaping and it slithered away. It was about 7PM too and the sun was almost down...This was the first snake i'd seen in probably 10 years.
10/5/2012 1:43:59 AM
Fun fact: there are more Copperhead bites in NC than any other state, and more occur in Wake County than any other.
10/5/2012 1:53:50 AM
i like how the snake in the second pic from the top is looking up at you like "you better not put that damn container over me"

You people are fucking stupid. He will be back, you will not see him until its too late, you will get bitten, it will be painful.KILL POISONOUS SNAKES. YOU WILL LOOK LIKE THIS.
10/5/2012 4:19:41 AM
glassssssss, I want to thank you for putting it back outside and not killing it. Unlike all of the pussies that hang out on TWW that would have killed it.
10/5/2012 8:40:03 AM
when the evenings start to get cool they start scoping out places to hibernate also, it probably couldnt find the exit from the shed again
10/5/2012 8:58:33 AM
kill or be killed
10/5/2012 9:03:57 AM
I'm all about preserving some snakes, but fuck copperheads that get up in my business.
10/5/2012 9:07:36 AM
i got to the shop around 8pm and opened the garage door...went inside to do some nickel plating and probably spent about 30 minutes inside. that was all the time necessary...im sure the little dude was chilling in some brush in the driveway and when the door opened he went to explore..probably would prefer the outdoors im guessingim about to head back to the shop, wonder if he will still be anywhere near the front yard, when i left he was just sitting there (obviously pooped from the whole ordeal..) hope he found some energy and took off (the neighbor has cats and im always finding dis-embowled lizards running around)
10/5/2012 9:16:33 AM
Unless you have a really bad immune system a copperhead bite shouldn't kill you. The antivenin can actually make you sicker. Anyway, if you want to take care of the problem, get a cat. That advice comes straight from a herpetologist PS, I am a little biased and love copperheads they're so beautiful. And honestly, most of them aren't assholes and should be fine if you just move them with a hook.
10/5/2012 10:19:03 AM
as far as poisonous snakes go, copperheads are pretty mellow. i have had 2 times where i should have been bitten by one and was not.
10/5/2012 11:37:26 AM
My sister in law was bitten by one twice in the foot at a cookout inside the beltline last year. Typical grass yard with bushes in front of the house from what I heard...She just happened to step on it while walking up the walkway towards the house just after the sun went down. It looked pretty bad for the first week, but I don't think she had any notable nerve damage or long term issues.I spotted this guy OFFKAPLAN about two weeks ago:
10/5/2012 1:54:21 PM
ermahgerd, cerperherds
10/5/2012 2:26:04 PM
The only time I've ever seen one was in my backyard back when I was in high school. I didn't see it and stepped directly next to it while walking. It (luckily) didn't even move.
10/5/2012 3:12:02 PM
Copperheads are quite placid (from everything I've learned), so you practically have to step on or corner them to provoke a response.
10/5/2012 3:18:32 PM
I saw 2 of them at work the other night. Got a picture of a pretty big one.
10/5/2012 3:20:51 PM

Cottonmouths and water snakes are more similar in appearance.
10/5/2012 3:28:58 PM
I think corn snakes more closely resemble copperheads.
10/5/2012 3:33:25 PM
^^^^^first you don't know the difference between a lion and a tiger, and now you confuse a copperhead with a watersnake?
