Gorman Crossing Robbery

submitted by EVroccck on Saturday, January 27 2001 at 9:43 AM

Late Thursday night around 11pm, a young black male approximately 6'0 and 170 lbs, held 2 Gorman Crossing Residents at Gunpoint and took all there possesions of value off of them. "I thought he was going to shoot us," one of the victims voiced in an interview, "He was real pissed because I didn't have anything except a can of dip on me and my roomate only had $15." No authority has commented on the rash of crime around Gorman Crossings.

Gorman Crossings is the most ghetto apartment complex around here...and the thing is GC management just doesn't really give fuck...our apartment got broken into 3 times last semester in a week and a half...the second time because GC didn't change out backdoor lock so they used my roommates keys to just unlock the door...the same keys that they used to steal his car two days before...we had over $1000 dollars worth of stuff stolen but after a bunch of fighting with the management all we got was a measly $250 off of our rent...so tell your friends, what ever they do, DO NOT live in fucking Gorman Crossings...they'll have nothing but problems

I know that when I get the hell out of Lee Hall, I'm keeping my ass away from Gorman Crossings and going to a much nicer apartment complex.

I agree. This guy I know had his car broken into there. We were just at a party and the car was parked under a street light. We came out to find the window broken. My cel phone was in my jacket pocket, and they stole my jacket! It was like 3 years old!
Some people...
So, whatever you do NEVER go to Gorman crossing, they are ghetto, and noone cares what happenes to you.

I don't even live there, but my car was broken into one time parked out on the street in front of GC. They don't give but like 2 parking passes per apt., so I couldn't park in the complex (or I would've been towed). I ended up with a broken window and my cd player was taken. Luckily they didn't see all my CD's on the floor (about 200 or so) and my scanner. I'm more careful with my stuff now and remove my detachable face. They're nice apts., but I don't think its worth it. I live in Sylvan Park off of Marcom St. The apartments look like crap on the outside, but the inside is nice, the rent is cheap, and I've never heard of anyone getting there stuff broken into...and NO PARKING PASSES!

You got mad lucky that they didn't see your CD's. Dumbass crooks.

Piece of advice to everyone:

Never leave anything of value in plain sight in your car. It just entices people to break in and steal shit. If they don't see anything of value in your car, they'll just keep looking for a car where someone left all of their valuable shit in plain sight.

I repeat, never. You have been warned, have a nice life.

True dat. Last spring, when I was at ECU, my roommate pulled into our parking lot and sees a guy with a crowbar trying to pry our window open. The guy runs away.

In the meantime, my roommate goes in, a little pissed that someone was trying to break into our place; and hears the guy trying to come in through the front door! He yells, "I'm callin' the cops..." and the guy runs off. Turns out, my roommate had left like 6 bucks on the kitchen table that he owed me and the thug must've seen it through the window.

The sad thing about the whole ordeal is that only one cop showed up at the scene of the crime and
last night three cops showed up to hound one college student about carrying a six pack of beer across
the street. the one that stopped him was responding to a 911 call. The RPD is the reason that our
campus is a haven for criminals because they are so worried that us college students may have a good
time

Of course; college students make easy prey; there's little or no chance of a violent confrontation, yet the cops can make their quota and feel like they're upholding laws.

RPD SUCKS!!! If you are ever in trouble and you want them to come real quick to help, just call the noise nusiance line and say that someone above you is having a party and there are really young people walking around. Those fuckos will be there like flies on shit. My house on Hillsborough street is in the middle of the Raleigh crime ring and someone tried to kick in our door a couple nights ago around 2:30 am. Well I was still up so I went to check downstairs to see what was going on and I think the guy ran off because the alarm box is right next to that door and it beaped at him when he got the door kicked in (even though it wasn't turned on) and he ran off. Anyway, so I called RPD... they showed up about an hour later and said they couldn't do anything because our back porch light wasn't on at the time... what the hell??? keep up the good work boys, and I do mean BOYS...

Yeah there are criminals everywhere, but I am feeling these people who are concerned about the GC apartments. I have friends over there in the Ghetto and I fear for their lives and their stuff. The parking over there is terrible and like previously stated, the cops never show up when they are needed, the only time I have seen a cop was when there was a party next door and the little ol' lady across the way called with a noise violation. Do beleive this if you don't beleive anything else, . . . .the management over at GC don't give a flying pig shit about the residents. I have been around and seen how they operate and how some of my friends have been treated after they were robbed. You know as much as the cops run up and down Gorman street looking for college students to harass they could cirlce through the ghetto every once in a while to check things out. Next time you head over that way, watch your back and run fast from the street to your car, you will never find a parking space!
