Charity Golf Tournament - Anyone Can Enter

submitted by k8harding on Tuesday, April 11 2006 at 11:50 AM

ONLY A $60 ENTRY FEE for a round of golf, goody bag, and dinner. The Knightdale Chamber of Commerce is teaming with Club Horizon in Knightdale to raise money for the non-profit organization. Club Horizon provides a safe place for adults in Wake County with mental illness to come during the day to do meaningful work and build meaninful relationships.

The event will be held on Thursday, May 4th, beginning at 11:30am. This is your last chance to play at the Wil-Mar golf course in Raleigh before it is closed and torn down.

Individuals entering will be put in groups of 4. Already have a group? GREAT!

MONETARY PRIZES FOR TOP THREE WINNING TEAMS.

This is a great chance to play some golf and help people who need it. Entry deadline is April 27th. Contact alumnus Kate Harding for more information: k8harding@yahoo.com

Interesting how these things never say what the charitable organization is.

To respond to Lutra...the organization is Club Horizon, which is a program of Derek's Renaissance House, Inc. Wake County has over 14,000 people effected with severe mental illness and a severe lack of resources to help them transition back into mainstream society. Club Horizon operates on the clubhouse model and focuses on "members" (not clients or patients) doing meaningful work and building meaningful realtionships in a safe environment. Club Horizon offers educational, housing, and employment opportunities as well. Currently Club Horizon severs 55 members, with a goal of 140.

The date for the tournament is drawing near and there is a desperate need to sign up golfers. It is an amature event and no skill is required to play, although the top three teams will win monetary prizes.

Please come out and help this worthy cause!! Contact Kate @ k8harding@yahoo.com
