that it does. but honestly, that plethora of suffixes and prefixes do a great job of describing a band's sound.

i mean i'm pretty sure there's no "blackened power grind" genre, but if you told me Band X was blackened power grind I'd have a lot better idea of what they sounded like than if you just said they were metal

i usually just stick to the black, death, power, speed, thrash, doom, goth, viking, nu, ...thats all the prefixes i can think of

and anything that ends in -core gets completely dismissed.
