Gleason will wear number 4 clearly in a tribute to gritty veteran Aaron Ward.

My prediction is a late pick and bagged shit like Jody Shelley or something to offset some of the salary issues. We'll probably waive whoever is returned to us. I want to say I'd be shocked if we take anything back from SJ that isn't a pending UFA at the end of the season, but we are talking about JR here.

"Chuck Kaiton was on 99.9 The Fan late today and told Mike Maniscalco that the trade sending Niclas Wallin to San Jose was close to being completed, but was still not finalized. The problem? Wallin's agent was negotiating a contract extension with Sharks GM, Doug Wilson.

According to Kaiton, he believed that the Sharks wanted to sign the big defenseman for a longer term than Wallin originally wanted. Apparently, the Swede did not want to sign a deal for longer than one year, but Wilson wants two. Plus, there is still a small matter of dollars and cents to be agreed upon as well.

The "Hall of Fame Voice" of the Hurricanes said that the return would be a good one for the Carolina organization, reportedly a second round draft pick. But to give up that much, Wilson wanted to make sure he could lock up "The Swede" for longer than a year.

Wallin still calls the shots here though as he could nix the trade by utilizing his "No Trade Clause"if he doesn't like the terms, but this deal looks to be about done except for the details. Although you know what they say about details."

Doug Wilson's love affair with Nic Wallin has gotten out of control.

I would too were it not for the fact that it flared up at the beginning of this season before he had even played any games.

Yeah, this has been a nagging injury since the beginning of the year. I honestly hope they just shut him down for the rest of the year so he can come back strong next year. Also this should help us in the race for a top pick.

Yea, JR is responsible for giving him a NTC. Ultimately, he's at fault. Even so, The Secret Weapon has been a consummate teammate and part of many Canes wins, including a Stanley Cup. He has earned the right to say NO.

i just took a look at the standings for the first time in a while...how long have the Canes been in last place in the East? I never would have thought it would get that bad.

The Canes dropped into last on Nov. 6th.

The Canes were tied on points for last on Nov. 4th.

It took that long only because the Leafs were even worse than the Canes at the beginning of the season.

I had a dream that Kostopoulos got a penalty shot at the RBC and had them put the puck at the offensive zone faceoff dot, so when he picked it up and circled toward the slot the puck was going backwards and they immediately blew it dead.

In response to this, Justin Peters (who was wearing #35 without a name on the back, despite huge "60" monograms on his gear) skated down to the referees and started screaming at them.

A. Ward doing what he can to help with the tank... as has been the case all season
