I'd think they would run one of the young guys in the last couple of games. I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Conboy is on his way out at year's end, or at best getting a 1 year, 2 way deal for the minimum. Why bother putting him through re-entry for 2 garbage games?

Clearly Tim Conboy is on re-entry to give playoff teams the opportunity to claim him. A player like Tim Conboy would be an asset to any Stanley Cup contender. Obviously Chicago should claim him and skate him alongside Toews and Kane.

If you're the Carolina Hurricanes right now, you want to bring up a guy like Tim Conboy to really see what he can do. Now before everybody gets too over excited, let's just say this guy isn't Sidney Crosby. He isn't Alexander Ovechkin. But you've got to think this kid has a real shot at playing for the Carolina Hurricanes next season. You're talking about a guy here who scored 6 goals for the Cleveland Barons. That's almost as many as Erik Cole, a guy who any team in this league would love to have on their top line. I think we're gonna see Tim Conboy become a Thomas Holmstrom kind of player. This is a big guy. If you're the Carolina Hurricanes, you've got to park him in front of the net on the powerplay. With Conboy going to the net and a top 4 defenseman like Bryan Rodney putting shots on goal, there could be some real excitement.

^^ 189 Euro. I figured that since I was spending the money to go all the way to Finland, I may as well splurge for front row. Besides, it was only 20 Euro more than my 19th row center ice tickets for the thursday night game.

From ESPN:

Carolina Hurricanes: The season was lost in a hurry by a brutal start, but the second half of the season revealed what most of us suspected: This was a much better squad than what it showed in October and November.

All it did was make GM Jim Rutherford begin the youth movement a few months earlier, and that will remain the goal during the offseason.

"We'll continue our transition into a younger team," Rutherford told ESPN.com on Thursday. "We have a lot of good young players, and we had planned on doing it this fall regardless of how this season ended up. We started the transition a little earlier than we expected halfway through the year, but in some ways, it's been good for us because we've gotten a look at some of the young players, and they've done real well."

Rutherford moved out several veteran faces before the trade deadline but retained winger Ray Whitney, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

"He's been a great player for us for a long time," Rutherford said. "We'll have to take a good look at that in the offseason and see what he wants to do. I still feel he's a good player, so we'll have that meeting sometime in the next few weeks."

In the meantime, the Hurricanes will hope for some luck in Tuesday's draft lottery.

"I'm pretty comfortable anywhere in the top eight," Rutherford said. "We'll get a good player whether we pick anywhere from one to eight."

This team is going young but with good players. Be excited if you're a Hurricanes fan.

Paille hadn't scored in 25 games.
Begin hadn't scored in 22 games.
Wheeler hadn't scored in 12 games.
