4 interceptions? I can't imagine the defense improved that much, so either the offense is starting to crumble... or TOB secretly told the QBs to toss the defense a few to boost their confidence.

i specifically remember reading that the situational scrimmages were going to be 4 minutes left on the clock

Still sounds like another year of terrible offensive lines. 4 sacks? ugh.

If we hadn't recorded any sacks, you would be crying "we have no pass rush, God I wish Willie Young was still here, blah, blah". It was a fucking scrimmage, the stats mean very little at this point.

I don't know why, but I'm starting to get a good feeling about this season.

This probably equates to disaster, though.

yeah...St. Aug's at Catawba?

still, all we have to do is make the ACC title game and we'll be on there THREE times

Packer just said he was giving us some love since he took away our Clemson game last year for them to go to App State / Elon

thanks for the FYI, folks. Really saved my season (literally)

Apparently my tickets were sent to an old address that was not updated (for the second year in a row) by the staff over there after I updated it on the web ordering form. FedEx allowed one of my old neighbors - who I didnt even know - to sign for the package in my stead. Luckily the guy took my tix to the office and left them there. The office never bothered to call me about it, but I got them today.

I am very lucky they didnt end up on CraigsList and eBay! This is the second year they sent my tickets to the wrong or an old address. Why does their customer service suck soo bad? Am I the only one with these kind of bad experiences?

I've had all my problems with FedEx delivering my tickets. Last year I had to get my tickets reprinted because FedEx claimed they delivered them to my house but I could find them nowhere. About 4 weeks into the season I see a FedEx truck pull into my driveway and guess what they deliver, my season tickets. I was pissed and bitched to FedEx about it.

hearing good things (i have no inside sources) from the various outlets about the freshmen secondary, these kids sound like they are the future.

nice!

actually that's not a bad prediction if you told me today that we were winning 8 games this season - I'd probably pick the same way. I'll fill in the schedule for you..

Sept. 4 WESTERN CAROLINA - W
Sept. 11 at Central Florida - W
Sept. 16 CINCINNATI (Thurs-ESPN) 7:30 pm - W
Sept. 25 at Georgia Tech - L
Oct. 2 VIRGINIA TECH - L
Oct. 9 BOSTON COLLEGE - W
Oct. 16 at East Carolina - W
Oct. 28 FLORIDA ST. (Thurs- ESPN) 7:30 - L
Nov. 6 at Clemson - L
Nov. 13 WAKE FOREST - W
Nov. 20 at North Carolina - W
Nov. 27 at Maryland - W

Unfortunately, I feel like the following games are toss-ups:

UCF: decent Conf USA team that could sneak away with a W ... again.
Cin: top 5 team last season. Still talented after losing coach and QB. I think their pass attack scorches our young secondary.
BC: TOB hasn't beaten his former team yet in 3 straight years. Oh, and they retun Harrell and Herzlich. Although the return of Nate should help to limit Harrell's damage.
UNC: 3 in a row has been sweet, but their time is about due. Our players know this is the biggest game and always play up to it, so the ball could bounce either way.

And don't be quick to count us out of the FSU game. ESPN hasn't forgotten about the magic of that rivalry. We've lost to them 3 straight years, and they are favored to win our division. But I still think anything could happen.

Who the hell knows? TOB seems optimistic that this year's team has the best overall depth he's had since he's been here. Our injury situation appears to be less severe than in recent years. Maybe we get lucky and go 50-50 on the toss-up games and go 6-6 on the season and get back to the postseason.

"Aug. 17, 2010

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State's football squad held a situational scrimmage on Tuesday evening in Carter-Finley Stadium. In different segments, the offense was up seven, down seven and tied with various times on the clock and available timeouts.

Tom O'Brien did not release any individual statistics after the workout, but as a team the offense rushed 36 times for 122 yards, and completed 11 of 29 passes for 88 yards and one touchdown.

The defense picked off four passes during the drills, tallied eight tackles for loss and four sacks.

"There was a lot of enthusiasm out there tonight," said O'Brien following the workout. "It was a good scrimmage from the standpoint of giving us many teachable moments. We will use tonight's film to learn from and get better."

The team will not practice tomorrow as classes start at NC State. The team will be back on the field on Thursday morning, as the Wolfpack begins its new morning practice schedule. "

Camaraderie building at N.C. State?
Quote :
"Over the past week or so, a handful of insiders at N.C. State's football practice have offered opinions that the current team is building exceptional chemistry and camaraderie.

They say the previous three teams under coach Tom O'Brien haven't necessarily lacked togetherness. But they say the teamwork on the current team is just different, in a good way.

"We’re trying to do a couple things different here and there," quarterback and team tri-captain Russell Wilson explained Thursday. "Nothing in particular. But we’re just trying to have fun out there and compete every day, in individual drills and team drills. And just get better. And this is a fun game."

Asked about that topic today, O'Brien had a mixed reaction. He is reluctant to proclaim the chemistry and teamwork improved because it hasn't been tested yet in adverse situations.

At the same time, he hopes the camaraderie people are talking about is a sign that the team building he has been trying to promote since he arrived finally is taking hold.

"Hopefully all our efforts to get it more team oriented, more selfless, more about everybody else than the 'me' factor, if that's taken hold, that's obviously a good thing for us," O'Brien said.

O'Brien also said offensive coordinator Dana Bible, who was treated for leukemia during the offseason, recently received another clean bill of health in his latest tests. O'Brien plans to have Bible call plays as he has throughout his tenure at N.C. State before he missed the last two games of last season because of the illness.

After getting caught off guard at first when Bible was hospitalized last season on the day the team traveled to Virginia Tech, O'Brien said other staff members will be more alert to the possibility of taking on more responsibility. But he said all the information Bible has received on his health has been positive.

"There's no reason to believe he won't be able to assume the same duties that he's done in the past," O'Brien said."

http://blogs.newsobserver.com/accnow/camaraderie-building-at-nc-state

Good to see Coach Bible is doing well in his recovery.

the article makes sense to me. A large bulk of the guys recruited from the Amato era are gone. Out of the 19-man recruiting class of 2006, only 7 remain.

If there was any bitterness about Chuck's firing that was still lingering around for the past 3 years, it's all but gone now. TOB has players now that have committed to him and his staff.

Also, Darrell Davis days left
