so outside an LTE radio, there has been no phone to provide anything better than the atrix in 8 months. there are a handful of 1.2ghz dual cores vs the atrix 1ghz dual core, but no one with more than 1gb ram, no one even matching the 1950mAh battery, etc. what's the deal here? we had dbags claiming there'd be quadcore phones by q4. slowing down the release to extract more from the market?

Is that quad core Nvidia chip even finished? I haven't heard anyone say quad core phones this year. I don't expect them until at least summer.

anyways, Samsung said on their facebook that it will start out on Verizon and other carriers will follow (just means they don't have exclusivity but not that a WiMax version for sprint even exists yet)

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is better than the atrix (and this comes from a Motorola fanboy that owns the Atrix). Faster processor that kills the atrix on graphics. Bigger, better screen. UI isn't as good IMO, but you can get CM7 which is better anyway (Atrix is getting CM7 support, but not like the S2). It has a better camera. I think the Atrix has a more accurate GPS and for whatever reason is getting faster data speeds than my brothers' S2.

The Galaxy Nexus is better than the Atrix too, for pretty much the same reasons.

i was going to get the iphone 4s

but i just saw the news about the Droid RAZR and it looks like a better phone...bigger screen, nicer display...
same camera mp and dual core as iphone4s

what is this about the nexus? supposed to have a big screen?

Can't say I had any issues when I had the Fascinate with Verizon nor have the other handful of people I know with an Epic 4G. Great hardware but Samsung is slow as fuck with updates which causes a lot of developers to avoid them. Nexus is a different story though since you don't have to wait for Samsung to screw up the OS.

I've had my eris over 2 years....just seems like almost 3

Samsung has some of the best quality hardware around. Only thing that sucks are their GPS's.

my DX's GPS started becoming useless a while back (on stock OTA software), it would take 10-15 minutes to snap out of its "searching for GPS" daze, if it would wake up at all

it's been flawless since I installed CM7 though

i have cm7 installed as well and still cant get functionality back, although i am using one of the very first cm7 nightlies

so what should i actually do with my droid when i upgrade? its got a cracked screen so its useless to trade in even though the screen didnt lose any touch functionality

In general, it's my job to be a Twitter addict - skimming/reading hundreds and hundreds of articles each day, and their respective media on my phone usually while I'm traveling, dumping, etc.

And I sleep streaming Pandora over 3G if my WiFi is flaky so that's like 6-7 hours of data right there.

And I'm rooted so I tether if I am on the road and can't get WiFi somewhere.

It runs at a higher frequency than the Galaxy/Nexus S so while it's still less than the 543 in the 4s, it'll still outperform the current devices running the same GPU (well on paper anyways. Likely won't notice a difference in everyday use).

my D2G was the first Droid to have Froyo...but we just got Gingerbread this month

I think I found a way to root and unlock the radio for Wireless Tether but I'd also be interested if there is an easy way to rollback to a previous update cause that might be an easier solution for someone I'm helping out

D2G doesn't get a lot of support, either from Verizon/Motorola or the modding community...afaik the first Gingerbread ROM for D2G came out in September. I think there were only two stable ROMs before that.

I'd like to upgrade to GB as I understand it helps battery life, but I'm having install issues. Even though I'm unrooted I think the update doesn't want to install because of some lingering Superuser files.
