Chipotle /= "ethnic food".

And that highly depends on where you go.

When I had Chipotle for dinner tonight, I asked the lady if it was Mexican food. She confirmed that it is.

Fajita Veggies: ~10
Greek Yogurt: 30 (sub plain greek yogurt for sour cream)
Lower fat cheese: 70
Lettuce: 5

Total: 703

So no, not half, but 322 can be a meal for me.

Like I said, excluding the dairy, where it's possible to save a large number of calories by substituting far less tasty items, I don't think their food is particularly calorie-dense.

For the proposed "basic rice/bean/meat/salsaveggies bowl" scenario, by your numbers, you can recreate with a ~15% caloric savings...but the majority of that savings comes from your far lower calorie rice...everything I see says 4 ounces of rice (with no fat/additions) is closer to 150 calories, not 130, which would knock your savings down to 12%.

Though I will admit, that wrap is dense as fuck, but that comes down to the customer's choice...just like the dairy.

Protip: instruct them to put each topping their own bowl. Moan/scoff/whine when they stop filling it so they throw in a little extra. It will look like a small amount on account of being in its own bowl so negotiate off that if it comes to it. Eat. Offer to make other patrons their own snack size bowls table side to pay for what you ate.

I went to Lime this weekend and it does not come recommended. The burrito was shit, and the taco salad was pathetic. Taking a hard-shell taco and breaking it in half and putting it on top of lettuce cheese and ground beef =/= taco salad I hate chipotle, and somehow Lime was actually worse

Went to chipotle today and ordered a bowl that should have only been 610 calories. The problem is that when they fill your bowl, they give you such large volumes of ingredients when compared to the burrito because they don't have to worry about wrapping it. Seriously, 3 scoops of beans in the bowl when you would give me 1 scoop in the burrito. 3 heaping piles of barbacoa. They could barely close the bowl. No way that bowl was less than 1200 calories. It's a great value, but don't eat the whole thing in one sitting if you're moderating your intake for any reason.

At lime I ususally only get the bacon bean quesadilla. It's pretty yum.

And I dig their huge shrine of hot sauces.

I always get one heaping scoop of each [except rice, they do like 2 of those] unless I ask for more or less. You got 3 scoops of meat??? Never seen that happen...

Had a burrito there today and it tasted delicious and very fresh.

It was the fattest burrito I have ever seen in my life... had a 4 inch diameter and probably weighed over a pound.

^^^^

yeah never got like 3 heaping scoops of anything in a bowl before.

though I agree, no way a bowl is ever 600 calories. I usually only eat like 1/2.

eating a bowl in one sitting is no big thing. i'm 5'10 and 150lbs and i eat the full bowl each time. not to mention i add guac and the fajita veggies.

[Edited on June 17, 2014 at 3:41 PM. Reason : also good hdl/low ldl and 10 - 12% body fat]

^ you also get the regular amount of rice and beans? damn.

[Edited on June 17, 2014 at 3:59 PM. Reason : the fajita veggies dont really add much bulk. if you did double beans then that would be something]

It wasn't until recently that I learned that avocado came free on the vegetarian ones. DD

Also, the nearest Chipotle is over an hour away. </3

I used to drastically prefer Moes, but Chipotle won me over by being easier to get to once it opened while I was on campus with no car.

Despite your usage of a word like drastically, Chipotle is stupidly better than Moe's. Moe's has a decent vat of cheese, but otherwise, Chipotle murders Moe's.

Chipotle and Qdoba are from Denver and I do live in Denver. Denver also has a huge amount of "fast casual" restaurants:

http://www.restfinance.com/Restaurant-Finance-Across-America/August-2013/Colorado-Worlds-Fast-Casual-Capital/

Quote :
"According to the Chicago-based marketing firm, the three metro areas in the country with the highest concentration of fast casual units are all in Colorado."

Colorado / Denver also has a HUGE Hispanic population so there's a bunch of Latin American restaurants.

So yeah I'm kind of in the perfect position to talk about Latin American fast casual food.

This is just stupid. Chipotle may be better, but come on, Moes is pretty good. Chipotle would have to be a mouth orgasm (which it is not) or real orgasm (which it is not) to MURDER Moes.

Moe's food is bland. Their salsa bar is ok , and like I said, the cheese is good, but the most of the rest of it tastes like it came in frozen. Bland. Deviod of flavor.
