He's just repeating what Ben Carson said,

Quote :
"There are two issues. The tape itself, which unfortunately is the kind of language that we hear in rap music, we hear in probably coarse conversation, you know, unfortunately, we hear this."

he managed to take it another step. carson seems to be saying "yeah, a lot of people talk like this so not a big deal" but rjrumfel made the jump to basically accuse Obama of being the same because of some loose connection to a celebrity who said "things"

giant leap

And are we talking about Jay Z the person or the artist? 'Cause not everything you say as an artist can be taken as a personal belief or endorsement. Wish I could think of a better example, but when Melville wrote, "Call me Ishmael", he wasn't trying to conceal his identity or anything.

eminem tells violent stories about his slim shady persona. slim shady and eminem are both white and the same person. rjrumfel is both white and the same person. ergo, therefore, rjrumfel definitely wants to murder kim and hide her body in a closet with moldy sheets.

All I'm saying is that there are a lot of people out there in showbiz who say deplorable things about women. And that's perfectly fine, that's ok. But some of these same people are coming out of the woodwork to poopoo Trump over what he said.

We don't even have any evidence that there was ever anything more than words.

This is just hypocrisy at its finest.

^^Fair enough - thanks for the link.

Look I'm not arguing that the man is a stand up guy. He's not. But all these people coming out of the woodwork to condemn this October surprise is just too much. Dislike Trump because he's an idiot, because he can't put together a coherent thought without run-on sentences, because his policies are something an 8 year old might come up with. But this language that you've just heard from him? We're inundated with that kind of language from all angles.

Trump said what he said

I'm not sure you're getting that the language he used isn't what's offensive. it's the sexual assault.

What they all forget (choose to) is that we already jail opponents simply for trying to show up and run as opposition. So hypocritical. You have no right to talk about Trump trying to jail Hillary for what he believes to be a crime when you already do exactly what your terrible analogy is trying to equate this to.

Arresting Jill Stein was immoral and stupid unless she was threatening (she wasn't).

It's still a false equivalency. Trump has no fucking clue what the law is or how special prosecutors are even used. It was a pure autocratic power move to his base. And dangerous. Not to mention the obvious point that it wasn't Romney or Obama exerting a power move to arrest Stein.

You really need to fucking stop with this bullshit. The GOP and Democrats are not all that different in how they operate. That is true. Though it isn't a both sides are equal. It has been said over and over and over again to you but you are either too thick or still too butthurt about Sanders to get it. It's about DONALD TRUMP being dangerous and unfit to be running for this office and stoking a very ugly side of America and bringing it mainstream. Its not about the GOP itself.

http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/national-polls/#now

So clinton's gains in the polls have been outpacing trump's drop indicating she's pulling in undecided voters, since the first election. This trend actually started on the 20th (week before the 1st debate, can't remember what happened then...).

Great #ImwithHer talking point

The thing I don't get about the leftists is why they can't just shit on Trump within the confines of reality. Everytime you lump his supporters in a "ugly side of America" or basket of "deplorables" you just further anger and entrench people that have a very valid concern with how our government/immigration/debt/foreign policy is a shit show.

Making baseless criticisms like "dangerous" or "ugly side" or "racist" just shows the power of the media's influence over you gullible hack types.

Once again. With Trump, its just words and with the establishment its something that has been practiced for years.

Quote :
"Not to mention the obvious point that it wasn't Romney or Obama exerting a power move to arrest Stein."

They didn't need to suggest it because the system was already setup for her to not need to be arrested, but to make it illegal (trespassing) for her to fully run as opposition in the first place. Obviously, if Hillary wasn't allowed to run, people wouldn't care much about locking her up.

"Though it isn't a both sides are equal. It has been said over and over and over again to you but you are either too thick or still too butthurt about Sanders to get it."

They work together. If you watch the first 10 minutes before the debate starts, they show you the bipartisan group who runs the debates. What does sanders have to do with this? I don't even think i would have recognized his name when i noticed this bs in 2012.

Maybe for you, but the GOP candidate "being dangerous and unfit to be running for office and stoking a very ugly side of america" is an old argument that is brought up every 4 years. Democrats know they are not seen as a solution but as an alternative to more problems so they use it as a way to keep power consolidated and will simply repeat the same statements about every opponent in future elections.

I've been starting up conversations with conservative Christian friends of mine, and not a single one of them likes Donald Trump and refuses to vote for him because he clearly does not hold Christian values. A few went as far as to say anyone who votes for Trump can't possibly be a 100% true Christian believer. (They aren't voting for Clinton either...most would go Johnson but he's iffy on abortion).

Any evangelicals here want to respond?

I think there's a pretty small proportion of conservative Christians who think Trump shares their religious values (or even has any of his own). As with most other things in this election, it comes down to their opposition to Hillary. They have the conviction that Hillary - and perhaps more importantly, the party and demographic she represents - is explicitly opposed to them. Trump himself may be bad, but at least he represents a party or population that is with them.

Never thought I'd link a Cracked list in TSB, but I think this guy actually does a pretty good job of explaining what's going on in a lot of minds:

Quote :

I think a lot of this really is about the death throes of small-town America as we have known it, and that's where those Evangelicals have their roots. Trump isn't one of them, but he represents their side of the equation. And Clinton, whose life takes an unwanted Arkansas detour from a litany of urban liberal centers like Chicago, DC, and New York, represents the exact opposite.

Louisiana had a "1,000 year storm" in the summer (worst US storm since Sandy), making tens of thousands homeless and causing billions in damage. No one gave two shits about it. Even MSM (reporters/helicopters) arrived TWO DAYS late. Why? Because they were busy covering the Olympics and the election bullshit.

(It rained for 44 hrs straight (16 inches) where I am, but my area was fine, thankfully.)

It is the elites' own damn fault for creating an "us vs. them" scenario through their institutionalized elitism which they protect with all their might. And so, the "them" flock to the assholes, because at least the assholes give them a voice.

Now imagine the storm happened in one of the blue areas below:

I am not even American, but it really saddened me and pissed me off that suffering Americans (in the poorest region of America) were being ignored by Americans in charge.

I think that cracked article hits a lot of great points and probably every political reader should read it.

It doesn't explain why so many trump supporters I know believe conspiracy theories and think Obama is a secret Kenyan Muslim, but politicians need to do a better job of talking to these people in their own terms.

For example, coal companies knew years ago, maybe decades, that coal was coming to an end. It should be the coal companies duty to use their vast wealth they made on the backs of coal miners to rebuild these cities in other ways. Use the coal money to start building windmills and solar farms, and train the workers so coal areas are now where the experts are for future energy needs. Instead, they take their profits elsewhere and abandon the towns that they grew on, like the car companies. Now they want the government to step in and dump money into the coal market.

Seems like these gripes are failures of local government anyway.
