we'll see. I felt like the size and personality was much more important for the role than trying to find someone who wasn't very pretty. My feelings are that if they keep with the idea that Brienne is not attractive, a combination of no normal makeup and/or "uglifying" makeup is a much easier solution than dealing with deficiencies in the other two areas.

Other than that it looks like a pretty solid selection there. The ones cast for Stannis, Davos, and "Yara" are almost exactly what I pictured them to be like.

From what rumors I heard, Asha is "Yara" because they thought Asha and Osha would sound too alike on TV. Who knows though.

I like Brienne. The actress has big, captivating eyes. You can always give the actress a putty nose or something, but you can't fake the intensity of those eyes.

And seriously, it's TV. Everybody on TV is more attractive than real life. Looks are only part of who a character is. I mean, Tyrion is supposed to be ugly and Peter Dinklage is pretty handsome. He plays the character so well that nobody cares.

All around I love the casting choices.

Rumors on teh interwebz are saying that HBO is talking about greenlighting seasons 3 & 4 to be filmed together (back-to-back) depending on the strength of Season 2's start. This would be opposed to filming one year and releasing the next like they have done for season 1 and 2.

Also, these two seasons would, together, would mainly just cover A Storm of Swords.

Just complete rumors at this point of course but I figured I'd throw it out there.

I'm only halfway through A Feast for Crows but I agree, so far Storm of Swords was the best of the books. There is so much stuff that happens in that book though I could see why they'd need to split it in two. I can probably guess exactly where they would end the first of the two seasons too, but to avoid spoilers I won't say anything.

I don't think there is any way they can split SOS without green lighting the fourth season because where they will probably end season 3 (^RW, anyone?) which doesn't exactly make for a great way to end an entire series- but would be perfect for pulling you into the next one. This also would help with how fast the kids (namely the actors playing Bran and Arya) are growing up.

If it continues after that, they are going to have to really combine books because the 4th has no Dany, Tyrion, or Bran POV's.

From a TV show standpoint I think that ASOS, AFFC, and ADWD could ideally be handled over 3 total seasons. 1.5 for ASOS and 1.5 for AFFC and ADWD combined. There is a lot of material in both AFFC and ADWD that could be trimmed to streamline the show for TV without ultimately affecting the overall storyline (at least from what we know so far) and I think that ASOS needs more than one season, but not necessarily two entire seasons.

Tricked my girlfriend into watching the first episode on HBO last night. It was past the white walkers scene in the opening so she just assumed that the show had none of that "crazy stuff". Bran got pushed out of the window and she was fucking hooked.

She went back and watched the opening on my computer and she was actually curious about the white walkers instead of writing the show off as dumb.

It's amazing what happens when previously narrow minded people realize that there is quality writing beneath the skin of a story.
