LMAO

Hey has anyone else done that Pugeot 207 seasonal race? It seemed excessively easy with a stock vehicle so I was wondering what other people's thoughts were.

Im finding most of the seasonals to be easy...except the german truck/boat. I flipped it right out of the gate like a dumbass. Now that I've beaten it I went back to just try to flip it for fun and can't lol

^^ it is, all i did was filter and chip, then beat it by ~ 60 seconds... to make it hard check out the Immaculate Challenges

i got flipped in the minolta by the r8 race car..... (PD all-stars or something)..... was, interesting. he got penalized heavily for that too, still won the race by 10 seconds though....

i'm gonna be hating life when they lower the seasonal payouts..... imho they should keep the prize money high but drop the exp some..... or at least have is scaled somehow to your level. (which to some extent rules if you can do the challenge at all (you have to be a certain level to even use certain cars for the seasonal's at all)

Great Driver Challenge: full downgrade to Comfort Hard tires + oil change"

^^But are you doing anything to mod your cars? That you can flip your WV Jeep thing tells me you put some sticky tires on it. I try to beat the events with the cars as stock as possible. For that WV one I didn't bother changing the tires.

^Yeah thanks for the tip. I do consult the Immaculate challenges. Sometimes I find their challenges easy and other times very difficult. The Dodge Challenger race I kept losing by around 20 seconds with hardly any mistakes so I bumped up my HP to 460 and installed an adjustable transmission. But this Puegot one...I just grabbed my car as is (stock) from my garage and beat the 2nd place guy by 16 seconds and I made plenty of mistakes throughout the race (late braking = terminal understeer). Anyway, easiest 150k credits I think I ever got in the game.

I'm currently taking a break cause I got my saw horse in pieces while I spray paint it. It's officially gonna become a part of the living room, so I might as well make it look like furniture.

^^damn son you have some impressive skills. I did that race 4-5 times and never even lifted a wheel off the ground.

The new seasonal events seem fun. It should be entertaining finding a Corvette that is a good challenge for the Indy race.

My problem with the update ended up being with the HDMI not resetting properly. Restarting the PS3 AND the TV did the trick.

Also, lately when I'm bored I'll go into the Nurburgring GD/P, cut across the grass and nail the soft barriers over the hill and flip the car over and over...makes me laugh every time

I have been getting so aggravated with the B-spec drivers. I have to put them in a car I'm capable of lapping the competition in just for him to be able to finish in 1st place. Whenever I give him the command to overtake, he just rams the car in front of him instead of using the 5 car widths of unused space to just pass the guy. He also likes to forget how to shift and will downshift in the middle of a long straightaway. I don't think he's getting any better as a driver, and I'm going to start races soon where you can't make up for a lack of driving ability with a better car alone.

on the historic racing car cup my bob keep nose diving into a barrier at the first chicane after the tunnel. he'd try to pass then and get bumped into the barrier...

over and over....

he beat it eventually though, had to force him not to pass on that part though

Nah, don't worry about that. I'm at level 30 and have golds in every B-spec event to that point except for the Monaco track on the Historic Racing event.

Even with the NASCAR and FGT events, you can get a pretty comfortable win just by tuning the car appropriately--getting the right transmission setting for each course is key.

Can anyone recommend a good B-Spec guide? I don't have much of a clue as to how I should be coaching my driver. So far it seems that my driver isn't aggressive enough to pass anyone or just constantly spins out.

spinning out means you're pushing him too hard in the wrong spots, as his strength meter drops he's more likely to make major mistakes when pushing the pace too hard. make sure you put him in a dominate car. makes it go so much easier... pace down after getting first to just below mid way then maintain, if anyone gets close enough pace up once only, then maintain. they shouldnt be able to catch you even so.

^^ use the toyota 7, crank down the speed a tad, reduce the rear toe in to +.12/.10 or so and the front toe out to -.15 or so, increase your camber bits, only push him on the first uphill and after the big corner before the finish line. pushing anywhere else invites danger (oh yeah you have to max out the power on the 7)

^^what helped for me when my Bspec driver was below level 12 was to keep him in cars that didn't require a higher driver level to purchase. (when he's a level 10, don't stick him in a driver-level 21 race car). Also, don't put him in a car thats got like a 300hp advantage, usually 50hp above the competition is good enough. If your Bob still keeps spinning out, then stick him in AWD cars for a while before going back to RWD. Gallardo LP560 is a great car for B-spec levelling IMO.

Oh yeah, and you especially NEED to monitor his stress during the WHOLE race. No putting the controller down and changing channels. Keep him away from the stress extremes and you should be ok.

Has anyone noticed a difference in car feel online compared to practice mode? I'm trying to tune my car for a spec race next week and I'm getting a lot more oversteer online than in practice mode. I can't figure it out my suspension settings are identical

might want to look at the other driving settings (TC, active steering etc.) both in the online races and in a-spec (might have been on online)

In both environments I had everything shut off except ABS = 1. In the Lounge I was messing around in I was the one controlling the settings. Everything was the same.

Dammit I can't figure this out

I think I've figured it out. When you enter practice mode your tires are already warmed up. When you go into free driving mode in a lounge (before a race) your tires are cold. Since I was tweaking my car's suspension a lot I was only doing 2-3 laps in between adjustments. That's not long enough for the tires to heat up all the way. So I was never on warm tires.

Mystery solved.

Specter, Biofreak70 and myself are participating in a spec series with some other people. The first "shake down" race is next Wednesday using 1st Gen Miatas with a max hp and minimum weight, for 15 laps around Trial Mtn Reverse.

That's what we're referring to.

Me and TKE-Teg don't have wheels... I know a couple of the other guys do have wheels, but I think it is a pretty even split b/w wheels and DS3

And that is another reason we are doing lower HP cars (more of an equalizer)

I think we set a max of about 400hp for any of our challenges, and this one is at 180hp for the miata

There's a big update coming out soon. Last month it was announced that the next update would enable remote B-Spec control so I'd imagine this is that. Between this update and the GT Academy cheating fiasco I guess they've been busy. To me it's not a huge deal as I haven't even done last week's seasonals yet but I can understand the annoyance since they just recently said that seasonals will be out every week at a set time.

I bought a Gran Turismo Formula and did the engine rebuild. I've since put ~400-450 miles on the car. I noticed today that my lap times at Indy were about a second slower than normal and GT Auto says I need an engine rebuild again. Is that normal? If so, WTF? My oil still looks almost new.

yeah i think the engine rebuild is a waste of money. the chassis maintenance on the other hand can be necessary as your handling degrades over time

From what I've heard you don't need to do an engine rebuild until your horsepower level continues to drop even after you do oil changes. And 400-500 miles shouldn't be anywhere near the interval when an engine rebuild is needed.

I haven't bought an FGT yet though (don't feel the need at this point) so I'm not speaking from personal experience.
