I found I can more easily adjust the brake/throttle by using L2/R2.. i can hold those halfway down a lot easier than I could x and square

do you both gas & brake with your right foot when using the wheel? using two hands or feet speeds things up IMO

I was expecting them to be awful, but they really aren't that bad... I'm glad my patience isn't that of a 7 year old

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so there are a shit ton of gt cars in the online dealership (probably due to the new top seasonal event), and I was wondering which one yall thought I should get:

toms supra, denso sard supra gt, arta nsx, takat dome nsx, calsonic skyline, nismo gtr, motul 350z, and nomad diablo

they are all b/w 725k-745k

Yes I do. One foot. Right now I'm using R2 for gas and the X button for brake. L1/L2 is shifting for me.

You talking about Super GT? I used a 700hp GT-R SpecV with like all mods and cleaned that up pretty quick. Only "hiccup" I ran into was doing Suzuka in the rain, holy shit was that fun

^he's referring to the new Seasonal Challenge Bonus Races #4. The 1,500,000 credit race is JGTC only, around High Speed Ring (an admittedly very easy track).

finally beat the loeb second stage!! fuck me, it was hard making good time and not losing it (took me combined probably about 3 hours to do it). Now it is off to the final stage and hopefully I can get the pimp daddy WRC C4 rally car to do the bonus challenge (if not, I have a feeling my WRX could probably handle it, but it is the principle of the thing!)

Just beat the final stage (it was a snow stage)

I'd say it was a little harder than the 1st one, but by now you would be used to the car and how it handles/when to shift, so I got through it realtively quickly

and I won 3 cars out of it (+ about 300k)! C3, C4 WRC, and C4 VTS

The awesomeness of seasonal events for me has emerged. I was hesitant because i didn't want to buy crap cars, but in the end, ~3 hours later, 4.5mil and a ton of awesome cars has me hooked! So close to getting me a F1 car!

so there's a new seasonal race? isn't that 2 in a week's time or something like that?

and i recommend the formula gran turismo. mmm. did the first endurance race with it -- a _little_ over matched.. finished like 15 laps ahead. whoops.

i'm having issues with the Supercar Daytona race on B-Spec. I've had my driver use a 600hp Gallardo, 700hp GT-R, and a 1200hp Veyron, and he always just ends up doing the same thing - slamming on the brakes right before the embanked turns. Its annoying as hell.

Apparently if you use a lv.0 driver he doesn't brake as hard, going to give that a shot.

^^It's once a week. Beat the JGTC one last night with the NOMAD Diablo on hard race tires with all aids off except TC set to 1. Beat the WV Golf Nurburgring one with a Mk V GTI on sport hard tires, racing filter and ECU chip. Haven't looked at the others yet

^I don't think I could get my guy to beat that race till he was higher than level 10. I actually can't remember what car I used but I think it was my Murcielago LP-670 SV. (bumped up to 770hp)

Yeah definitely not a spot you want to give it full throttle! That's the only part of the track where I'd lose time to the competitors.

haha gave up on bspec for a while- my driver is painfully bad- can't handle the pressure!

I just did the first seasonal of the new set (I've already done the last two)- that was painful! I thought my ears might start bleeding at any time due to the god awful whirring of the electric engine... and a max speed of 83mph on deep forest, with a best time of 1:49? ugh.... but it was pretty easy to win (just took 10 damn minutes!)

RUFs finally started showing up for me in the UCD! Right now I have 2 CTRs, a Yellowbird and an RGT. I plan on modding one of the CTRs and leaving the other one stock. Unfortunately they're both the same color

Still on the lookout for a Sauber C9, grr.

I don't understand the obsession with RUFs. There are no races you really need to use them for. Is it just more for the sake of having them?

All I have left in the game is Endurance races in A-spec and Extreme & Endurance races in B-Spec. That, and a few impossible Special Events, like the last go-kart race, last NASCAR test, S. Loeb challenge 1 & 3.

i'm a porsche fan and RUF is the closest you can get in GT5 i think i've got every one now: RGT, CTR, CTR2, BTR, 3400S. it looks like a lot of the standard cars only appear in one color... though i'm sure you can paint them.

(half the fun in the game for me is collecting cars, haha)

^seasonal races, I missed out on a JGTC nsx concept racer, didn't have the cash at hand at the moment to nab it... kind pissed about that one (in the UCD) would have done well on the JGTC race... and seasonal........

That and they are pretty rare I think. But I used my RUFs in the Schwarzwald races. Love the CTR2, its a beast.

Did the 300km Grand Valley Endurance Race earlier today. Spent an hour trying to find a well matched car for the competition and decided on the Toyota FT-86 (233hp 1000kg) with sport soft tires and I still managed to lap the entire field The field consisted of 2 NSXs, a few STIs, a few R34s and a couple of other cars. Took just over 2 hours to complete with an avg lap time around 2:13.000 (fastest lap of 2:08.975). Based on my margin of victory I'm guessing the other cars were on sport hard tires. Everyone, including me, pitted twice.

probably nothing.

for the life of me i cant get the sebastian loeb eiger nordwand completed, golded the other 2 on the first successful completion WITH TRACTION CONTROL ON... even running near perfect with TC on i was 5 seconds off the pace, then i noticed what TC was doing..... turned it off and got slower somehow..... grumble, maybe i should try it at level 1 or something...

Is that the second one? That one took me a loooong time to beat (probably 4+ hours of trying). you just gotta keep trying and learn the track. I kept getting closer and when I finally got gold, I beat it by 5 seconds.

sigh, yeah probably, soo damn annoying.... i mean i have to get used to the tc being off or at 1.... sigh... do you remember some of your time points? also what sort of bribe would it take for you to do it for me? (beer?) i really want that c4 so i can do the seasonal without dropping 800k....

Lets see- 39, 1:26, 2:23 were all time points I shot for. If I was waaay off on that last one, I gave up. Anything over 2:25/6 wont get you there IMO

and those early ones aren't set in stone, but that final one is pretty solid. You can make up time on that down hill area if you need too (it is just tricky). You'll also learn that the gear selection it suggests is often a little low, or if you do need to get to that, you only need it for like a quarter of a second (except for the blind up hill cut turns- those suck!)

I'm going to give the Grand Valley 300km a try tonight with my '07 STI hatchback. Going to try to run as close as I can to the competition as far as hp goes, just for added fun & competition.

I kinda feel like I'll enjoy this race a lot more than I did the GT All Stars or the Dream Car championship for some reason.

Finished in 2:05:32, best lap time was about 1:58. Was running Race Medium tires and was pitting in about every 12 laps (when my times would start getting 4-5 seconds slower).

I don't see how I'm going to be able to do the 4+ hour ones in A-Spec though. Sitting in front of your TV for that long seems ridiculous. But then B-spec might be twice as long, so who knows. I have an old 60gb PS3 and I'm more concerned about overheating it!

oh, and the winning prize money definitely doesn't seem worth it, but i guess i have no shortage of cash anyway. time to buy the formula GT and go to bed.

"GT5 B-Spec “Remote Races” Coming Early February
Gran Turismo 5 January 16th, 2011 by Jordan
One of the more interesting and unusual GT5 features announced before release was “Remote Races” (also known as “Gran Turismo Anywhere”), enabling you to control your B-Spec races on your PS3 from your PC or mobile device. Obviously, this was missing from the game when it shipped last November, and its future has been uncertain – despite the fact that it remains listed (with this screenshot) on Polyphony Digital’s official GT5 feature list.

Now, however, Kazunori Yamauchi has finally confirmed via Twitter the feature will be available in “early February”. It is unknown if enabling this functionality will require another update of the game, but considering v1.05 is nearly a month old already, this may be the target release date for the next revision. Regardless, though, it looks like this update won’t be coming soon enough for participants of the B-Spec-based Signature Edition Challenge."

Finally! This will help me get through B spec a lot faster. But damn, my PS3 will almost always be on now, lol.
