Just to make sure, for the managers meeting tonight I just need to bring a print out of all my players in a 1 inch by 1 inch format?

Yep, bring 1"x1" photos. TASL will supply the glue, the passes, and the laminators.

Last season there was a massive line to get all of the stuff laminated, and I think some of the laminators overheated/broke, so I just left my passes with Donna and Andy and picked them up later.

Don't sweat it if you don't have everyone's picture - you can go up to the office before the season starts and pick up their passes during the week.

I'll def be there tonight, not sure if JT wants to come with me or not (it's actually pretty damn boring of a meeting)

^^It's all in fun and the only chance I usually get to poke fun at the other teams. Hopefully this season will be different for my team and your coed team.

^I don't know anything about the new team. What is everyone's uniform colors? They always ask this at the meeting. I hope Bull City isn't blue.

Yeah, I was like "Oh man!" when I saw that too.

What are the Twin Lakes fields like anyway?

Also, where are the middle creek fields? My guess is they are the ones at that community center that are near those softball diamonds????? The red arrow is pointing at someone's house on the google map page.

We had a LOL game tonight at NetSports...

It was a replay of our first game which ended in a 6-6 draw against probably the most overly physical team in the league this season. We ran them to death and the more tired they got the more they started pushing and shoving. They had one guy get booked for getting into it with our keeper but the best part was a few minutes later, some guy on their team disputed a call and started going off on the ref. He was yelling "You fucking suck, fuck you, you are horrible" etc. It was actually pretty funny, he obviously got sent off then the ref ended up calling the game with about 2 minutes left on the clock.

Rec league

indoor is full of some damn hot heads. i don't like playing indoor around here.

^^ you are correct about the middle creek fields. it's behind/near middle creek high school of W. Lake Rd. and twin lakes is at:
Twin Lakes Park
435 CHANDLER ROAD 27703

in fucking Durham.

^You should just join his team. That guy a few pages back in this thread said he played for Hibernian last season, but he isn't this season. Take his spot. Then you could wake up at 6:00 am like the rest of us will be doing when we play against each other!

Also, they redid Thomas Brooks park before last season started. Those fields were perfect. I hope no one has wrecked them because we have 2 games there.

Twin Lakes are nice. Nice big open field with the same synthetic surface as WRAL fields only without the potholes. Just sucks that they're hidden in the middle of a forest in Durham. I like them though.

I'll second Middle Creek as being the nicest fields in the area. By far. Grass fields with no dirt spots. Well manicured. Big. I love playing on those fields. They're in the middle of the disc golf course.

Honestly this was the first time it's gotten out of hand that I can remember in the past 2 season. Granted we are playing in the O-30 A league, the Open B league had many more unnecessarily physical teams which is why we changed leagues.

The guy chewing out the ref wasn't totally wrong either. He was calling tons of fouls that weren't really fouls, then missing other calls. I still wouldn't have yelled at him like that though...

I would play in TASL but the schedule sucks for me and the fields are all 30+ minutes away. I like the pace of indoor better too, you get a lot more touches and I spend a lot more time running.

in my opinion, NetSports has never had a handle on their games. it's the same at all the other indoor complexes in the Raleigh area that I've played at. they all end up getting out of control.

like i've said a few times in here, i'm done with indoor....

^In the spring of 2010 there was nothing but sand at TBP. I fouled a guy in the box and the ref walked off how far he thought the PK line was away from the goal line. Then last season we had our first game there and they had resodded the field, so it was pretty good.

That place was a beach in the middle east in spring '10. I poured about an hourglass' worth of sand out of my cleats after every game.

Cody has bad memories of TBP because he had a PK awarded against him in the Fall of 09 (when there was actually grass) where he slid and won a tackle outside of the box

we were all yelling at the ref because there was dew on the grass and it was really obvious that it was at least a yard and a half outside of the box, but he still awarded the PK

i was very mad about that. it was in the last few minutes of a 1-1 game we ended up losing 2-1 because of that.

[Edited on February 19, 2011 at 3:36 PM. Reason : it was also a clean tackle. ]

^^Yeah they got the easy schedule. They get Newcastle twice. My team is stuck playing the new team twice. That could be a good/bad thing depending on how good of a roster they have built. My guess is they won't totally suck.

^Yeah, Flying Dog will be a tough win again for everyone.

^But they are also one of the worst teams in the league every year. We would have swept them in the spring of 2010 had my team shown up for the rematch. We had 7 guys show up and it was over 90 degrees outside. Last season we blew a 2-0 lead vs them and tied at 2-2. My roster is improved on offense this year, so we should be able to beat them too.
