"your keeper had a really good game yesterday. i think we had a few more shots that should have gone in, but he made a couple really incredible saves. hats off to that kid.

we didn't field our best team yesterday because we had a shit ton of people out of town and injured. we had our 3rd string goalie in as well, but i think we still played decently. but you guys played pretty well (and have definitely improved since last year... i think mostly due to having a dedicated keeper). that asian kid on your team should never leave the field either. he's by far your most talented guy."

Yes soc33com is one of the best players on the team (There are others too). TWW can play. I just wish Gumbified had shown up because he sounds like he is pretty good too. I just signed him last week.

As for keeper, I never intended to play that position. My indoor team at netsports from about 5 years ago wasn't that good and had no one who could play keeper, so I fell into that postion. Then I joined a house team in TASL and the guy who wanted to play keeper had never played that position before and he sucked at every position, so I gave it a shot and had a good game against Hibernian. I was then voted in as gk. Then the following season I signed a guy who played gk in high school. He missed the first game and sent me an e-mail saying his job got in the way and he couldsn't play on the weekends. Then this year things finally worked out and I have managed to sign someone who is good at the position.

Yeah it is always fun to play teams when you know people on them. This is probably the last time we'll ever play a league game vs each other too. Hibernian looks like they will be finishing first this season and moving to Open B. They only move up 1 team and drop down one team, so it will be hard for us to end up in the same division again in the futrure. I just wish my team could have beat them once! Anyway, the Old Firm vs Garden City is coming up and we have to beat them. As thankful as I am that I don't have my first season roster I am still pissed about the way they backed out on me and the 2 blow out losses last season. Then after last season another guy from season one left to join them. I replaced him with a way better defender though.

david, our keeper is pretty damn good. no offense B4C, but I'm glad he's in goal and not you.

p.s. someone on hibernian fucked up my ankle yesterday and its swollen to hell. no dice this weekend most likely

^^I always wanted to play defender and midfielder. I just always had the gk that signed up either suck, or back out. As a result I was put in goal.

Does anyone have connections with any of the teams in TASL Coed Over 30? I have been wanting to play twice a week and that league's schedule and location fits with my work schedule. I wouldn't mind playing the second half of the season in that league.

^^ We dominated the entire game and the ref awarded two bogus PKs to not only let the team we were playing back into the game, but the second one he awarded was at the death of it and let them win 5-4 uncontested.

^ I read them the fucking riot act about how Puluso got kicked twice while on the ground and that it was their duty to protect players and not award bullshit penalty kicks in instances where:

1. the linesman waves off an obvious dive and the main ref doesnt have an angle to see

and

2. a keeper dives on the ball and gathers possession of it

You should've seen the looks on their faces - they were absolutely flabbergasted that i even knew what i was talking about and how I systematically dismantled their errors point by point.

I talked to the player rep from the other team after I got done with the refs, and he's a stand up guy. He said there was no way that we deserved to lose that game off of that sort of BS and asked me if I'd like him to take it to the board during the next meeting. I said "Absolutely, this isn't the first time it's happened to us and I can't stomach this anymore."

He also said that there had been tons of complaints about the refereeing this season. That doesn't surprise me at all.

^Yeah I have seen players getting away with some hand ball calls.

Ah Damn! My best defender just told me he hurt his knee playing indoor and it is the knee that caused him to quit playing soccer a while back.

So we were playing on Centex today. No luck for tww all week on that field! d7 got a red card in the Hibernian 3-2 loss and my team was tied at 2-2 at the half vs Flying Dog thanks to tww, but we lost 4-2. Two of our goals could have been avoided had John cleared the ball. He's a great player, but can get a little dribble happy sometimes.

We ended up tying blizzard after starting the game with nine players. To add insult to injury our keeper broke his leg in two places and had to undergo surgery today

So we are now in last place over Royal Pains because of the tie breakers. The good news is we play Royal Pains and Newcastle in the coming weeks. We're better than them. No excuses for losing those two games. If the weather cooperates then we should get a win this Saturday. We can still finish 5-5-0.

Played the best team in the league tonight 9v11 (plus they had 4 subs). We actually did not do too bad and for some reason it was a lot of fun even though we lost. I got tired of the 1on1 breakaways I had to deal with in goal every 5 minutes though .

Anyway, we were down 2-0 with 20 minutes to go. At that point it was obvious we weren't going to come back so I came out of the goal to play up top and scored 2 goals within the last 20 minutes. Unfortunately our striker that swapped with me also let in 3

^Been there, done that. I just hope we have enough players show up next game that my team can win the Old Firm this season. I'm sick of GCE taking all of my players , although I am glad it happened this year in a way since the replacements are better.

haha. I was just happy to score a goal. Between not playing for several years and primarily playing in goal, I don't think I have scored in an 11v11 game in probably 8 years.

Anyone know of a team looking for a keeper? I had been playing for Happy Hour and FIFC in coed B & C but had to quit about 2 years back due to a change in my work schedule. Work has changed again to let me play, but the guys that filled in for me on those teams are sticking around. I figure this is as good a place as any to start looking for a new team.

I'll warn you though, its probably going to be ugly for a game or two until I get back into the swing of things. I haven't been able to play but a hand full of times over the last couple years.

So...I've been invited to play on a team for my future employer. I haven't played soccer since middle school...how would I fare in the C division? Also, I'm going to miss the last two weeks of the season (4 games) due to a trip. Do you TASL-veterans foresee this as an issue (i.e. are the teams usually low on subs?). If I e-mail and ask the captain, he'll give me that "oh come out and play, we'd love to have you" spill. I just don't wanna be labeled the douche that bails on the team.

^What season have you been invited to play in and for what team? Men's Open C has 3 games left for the spring 2011 season. Summer Heat begins June 6th and ends July 21st. That is a 9 vs 9 league with two 25 minute halves. It is a mixture of indoor/outdoor rules. They play a 12 game season on the week nights over 6 weeks. The Fall 2011 season will start Saturday August 13th and be 10 games.

It was Kevin at the time. Their original keeper broke his collar bone in a B league game and had to move for a job about the time he would have been able to come back so I filled in for them for about a season and a half. They usually wore black with white trim if that helps any.

Based on my experience in coed B & C, you should do fine if you have any skill level at all. I had never played at all and by the end of the first season I wasn't exactly great, but I had learned enough to make a regular contribution.
