Not sure I agree with this graphic, the tea party wasn't happy about the bank bailouts, but they were all about letting corporations control healthcare.

Fact is the majority of redistribution of wealth is going to the corporations and banks and the wealthy. The money is coming from the middle class and they are the ones who are failing to recognize this. Forget about complaining about welfare moms etc and look where the money is really going. 16 Trillion dollars to BIG BUISINESS. Wake up this isn't just liberals doing this, so called conservative Republicans are just as guilty. http://www.forbes.com/sites/traceygreenstein/2011/09/20/the-feds-16-trillion-bailouts-under-reported/

The Occupy Movement has good intentions at its core. It's unfortunate that a bunch of slack-ass hippies have showed up to the protests and are getting most of the media coverage. Fox News has had a hay-day without thos little bastards

moron is right. :-/

except moron secretly wants more

he doesn't want to make his life more independent and require himself to do more work, and have the pleasure of the rewards of such work

he would rather let society be the driving force behind what path his life takes

You don't know what socialism is. Socialism is when workers own the means of the production.

Wait, what? Who should control health care? The government? They've already got their hand in health care and prices are exploding.

Obamacare was supported by the large insurance companies. It forces people to buy their service. If you think any steps whatsoever have been taken by the politicians to divorce corporate/political interest from the health care system, you must have been living under a rock.

The tea party activists repeatedly said they wanted the government out of their healthcare and that it should be handled by the free market (in other words, private companies). I don't know where the rest of your rant came from, as I said nothing about what healthcare reform actually did or should've done.

Obamacare sans public option was really just a giant gift wrapped box of money to the insurance companies.

Hopefully the public option can get tacked on at some point.

Agreed. Even the public option that would've been in there would've only applied to a small percentage of the populace.

The difference here is that you actually are wrong. Just look up the definition of socialism, man. I'm not asking you to do major research, I'm just asking you to break out from your ignorance for once.

Even in these "European socialist paradises," the public does not own the means of production. There is still private ownership. You can't have private ownership in socialism. Now, before you fire off some half-baked response, spend 5 minutes on Google.

Yes, it should be handled by the free market. Meanwhile, the "other side" is insisting that we do have a free market, and if we just had some more regulation, we'd have a functioning health care model.

We have corporatism. The insurance companies have an iron grip on the health care system. If we returned to a free market system, we would effectively be taking power out of the hands of corporations/government and returning it to where it belongs: with doctors and patients. The idea that "free market" means "let the corporations run our lives" is wrong. The government gives unfair advantages to corporations, so we need to eliminate those advantages.

Isn't it funny how these "rich people" that are for higher taxes are never willing to, you know, actually help the people around them? Someone has to hold a gun to their head.

""We Are the 53%" was created thought up by CNN's chief goat-fucking correspondent Erick Erickson as a response to "We Are the 99 Percent," an Occupy Wall Street-affiliated blog that collects the stories of the underemployed, overworked, debt-ridden and uninsured victims of the recession. The blog, run by conservative filmmaker Mike Wilson, gets its name from the popular (and wildly simplistic!) Republican talking point that only 53 percent of households pay federal income taxes, and Erickson himself sets the tone:"

"Moreover, when Erickson says he doesn’t blame Wall Street, who could be surprised? Erickson should be grateful to big corporations since they sponsor his blog and provide him with content:

– Shilling For Banks: During the congressional battle over the Durbin Amendment, a rule that limits the amount banks can charge businesses to process debit-card fees, Erickson came out fiercely on the side of big banks. According to Bloomberg, Erickson had spoken with public relation firms employed by bank lobbyists while writing his posts. In his defense, Erickson told Bloomberg he became “leery” that bank lobbyists were excited about his March 14 post supporting the banker position. But later that month, he kept hawking banker talking points.

– Shilling For Walmart: The first major evidence of RedState’s corporate sock-puppetry came in 2006 when the New York Times broke the story that Mike Krempasky, a RedState founder and blogger, was being paid by Walmart to orchestrate online attacks on the company’s critics. Krempasky had secured the Walmart deal through his job at the public relations firm Edelman, which maintained a major contract Walmart at the time. Since the first reports of Krempasky’s corporate contract, RedState has been a stalwart defender of Walmart.
– Selling Erick Erickson ‘Video Endorsements’: An email uncovered earlier this year from Eagle Publishing, the owner of RedState, sold not only traditional advertisements and sponsorship opportunities, but also a “video endorsement” from Erick Erickson. “Organizations with issues, candidates and viewpoints that are in line with Erick’s positions can truly benefit from his endorsement,” read the sales pitch. Erickson has rented his list to MyWireless.org, a telecom front group funded by industry, as well as the American Petroleum Institute, an oil lobbying association.

– Representatives For Corporate Lobbyists Guest Blog For Erickson’s Website: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a lobbying association for top firms like Goldman Sachs, Chevron, AIG and Dow Chemical, has partnered with RedState for blogger briefings and guest posts. Pat Cleary, a longtime communications person for the Chamber, is a regular front page writer for RedState.

Erickson’s Blog Caught In Pay-For-Blogging Scheme Orchestrated By Malaysian Lobbyists: The most unusual example of RedState’s fraudulent blogging may be the case of Josh Trevino, RedState’s co-founder. The government of Malaysia paid a consulting firm owned by Trevino and other regular RedState contributors to promote the ruling party using various conservative websites. Trevino, who recently collaborated with Erickson to created “We Are The 53%” site, even sponsored blogger meet and greets and fake media town halls with the current Malaysian prime minister."

I think a lot of this anger is mis-placed and there is a fundamental problem with the American dream. It is supposed to be the land of "have" and opportunity, however, not everyone can acquire everything. And who fucking cares about 'having' anyways (I mean material posessions), but American society has taught us that if you don't have certain material posessions then you're a loser and worthless and obviously don't work hard enough.

I'm trying desperately to get out from under that mentality. Its extremely difficult but I'm about to cut myself off completely (once my lease runs out and I no longer have a roommate, I don't wanna burden her with the fact that I don't want TV, kitchen appliances, a couch...) I think I'm gonna be pretty happy. No TV/cable, new clothes, eating out, etc. I've spent the last year downsizing (7, yes 7 carloads of stuff donated and 3 carloads of stuff to a yardsale where i sold everything for $0.50-1.00) and figuring the few things I still want to be a slave to (my Kindle because I love to read, and I'll prob invest in a decent laptop after this one dies, the internet afterall is still free amirite?).

Not really sure what I'm trying to say, but that sign from the girl who got her inheritance at 21 and confessed to being the 1% really bugged me. I've felt guilty about being upper-middle class or whatever for my whole life and I finally figured out why. I LIKED having the newest, best everything from clothes to technology. I WANTED it and GOT it, either by working and buying it or my parents buying it for me. Then I felt guilty about how I spent my money. Its something I've struggled with all my life.

The girl with the sign wants everyone to 'have enough'. What does that really mean? Healthcare? I'd say thats a start. If you're sick or have chronic pain, thats not really being free now is it? But it will take a significant change in attitude and lifestyle from the 1% of haves in this country - essentially what I'm trying to do but its taken the better part of a year to train myself.

Sorry for the incoherent rambling, I'm a little doped up on meds since I've been sick for the past three days.

I really don't think the majority of people who are upset are out there because they think everyone should have an iPad. It's more likely they think Americans should have access to affordable and reliable healthcare, an infrastructure that isn't falling apart, access to a sound education, etc.

At least that's why I hope they're out there
