"We played tonight at NetSports against a bunch of serious asshats. There were probably 3 or 4 guys on this team who were way too physical. I mean every time you came near the ball they were shoving you into the walls. Luckily once when I got shoved down it was in view of the ref who booked the guy and sent him off for 2 minutes, but it continued all game. Eventually one guy full-on checked me into the boards like we were playing ice hockey after I beat him to the ball and then shoved me again to the ground.

Totally ruined the game for me. I chewed out their entire team on the bench on the way off the field and didn't go back on after that. I was afraid I'd flip out on whoever shoved me again and that's the last thing I want to happen. I mean it's a rec B league, they were already beating us handily, there was no need for constant physical abuse. It really pisses me off when people take it too seriously, I'm out there to have fun and get some exercise, not get hurt. Now I'm limping around for a day or two thanks to a bruised knee after that body check into the boards..."

Wow, this sounds familiar. Netsports' refs generally tend to fail to maintain order within their games. Not counting my incident, I've seen at least 2 other fights break out there.

Nah, Co-ed is always relatively calm. Men's leagues is where you get all the bullshit bravado.

^So I met harmemou tonight at a pickup game. He said he played for a different team in Open C two years ago before joining mine. He mentioned the African team and some hothead English team. LOL! My ex-teammates have a bad reputation in TASL. They formed Garden City Eagle for this season. That will be interesting. I don't hate them and I hope they do well, but I wouldn't mind if Sheperds House of War took it to them. The first game he was pissed last season because he said they suck and he had never lost to SHW.

Also, the frat field pickup game was cool for a little bit until everyone showed up and it turned into 14 vs 14 on a 75 yard field.

We formed up our team at work and most of the people are over 30, so next season we are going to join the Over 30 Men's B instead of Open B. Supposedly it's more laid back than the Open league and we won't have to deal with overly aggressive play anymore.

Thank you to tww and your friends that you have brought to me. If it wasn't for the people on here I would be short. So far I have had 17 guys quit from last season, had 3 guys sign up and then tell me to take them off the roster, and spoke with multiple free agents who are unsure if they want to play because of the cost and schedule. It's real simple to look on the tasl site and find information on estimated cost and game times for each division. DON'T SIGN UP IF YOU AREN'T SURE IF YOU CAN PLAY, OR PAY! These free agents have been wasting my time.

Dude, I feel your pain. For a second it was looking like we wouldn't get enough players to run that Ruckus FC team, but we managed to nail everybody down and get a full squad.

It's always the hardest part about running a team. Give it a few seasons and get a good stable core of players, and it'll start to work itself out over time and get a lot easier.

^Yeh I know. It wouldn't have been as bad had 4 of them not played together in summer heat and had we actually won some games. I guess you need to make sure to lose to us so I don't lose more players.

I never understood this shit. And we played in Men's C division.

C.

You're on a third tier rec team. I'm all for some healthy competition, but some ego's had a hard time realizing they weren't Maradona.

^Like I said, I sort of hope Garden City Eagles get one good pounding by Sheperds House of War since the GCE captain (Rich) thinks SHW is a shit team. SHW is actually pretty good. I think my team will do better this year since the 3 worst players from last season aren't on the team anymore. I just wish we had elduderino yet.

1200 miles is too long to commute for rec soccer. I'll be practicing on the beach in case I ever need to make a TASL return though.

And wtf does "Garden City Eagles" mean? The only Garden City I know of is on Long Island.

^^^Was there a conflict in Summer Heat? Oh and one of the guys who played with me that may play with them said GCE have multiple former college players including an ex-UNC gk from the early 90s. I was told they finished 3rd in coed summer heat.

no conflict that i know of. they were just douchebags.

what league were they in in summer heat? were they GCE then too? Hibernian FC finished tied for 3rd, but 4th by tiebreaker in summer heat. we ain't scared.

i find it hard to believe they have got multiple past college players on their team (that are worth a damn) if they are still finishing 3rd in a rec league.

i haven't looked, but i'm guessing no. they didn't release the summer heat schedules until a week or so before the season started and then only released a couple weeks at a time. it was kind of a hassle, but they sometimes have trouble finding fields for all the games.

In the spring they released it all at once, so I hope they do that again. The captains meeting is Thursday August 5th, so maybe I can at least ask where everyone has their first game. Is anyone on here the captain of the Rukus FC coed team? All captains have to attend, or send a representative for the team.

^Yeh we all might as well bring our golf shoes and sand wedge on opening day. Thomas Brooks Park has a nice soccer field...er...I mean sand trap. Now all it needs is a fairway and a green. Davis Drive and Preston Woods aren't much better

I'm playing in Co-ed B for TC FC and Co-ed A for PG United. I play pick-up regularly with some of the guys from one of the new teams in Men's C--I'm guessing it is Flying Dog. Should be some good players on that team.
